    ABOUT US:
I am Jenny (36) and I just moved with my two sons Jona (7) and Jaro (5) to the beautiful Island Bornholm in Denmark.
We live now on a property with 5.000 square meters where we have our own house with a big garden, (fruit) trees and a stable. We have two cute kittens :-) Originally we come from Germany.
There is also an other small house which also belongs to the property where another homeschooling family lives.
We live a country life, next to fields, close to the beach and the forest (both walking distance). There are very nice hiking trails all around.
The next supermarket is reachable by bicycle (we will have one for you). The next “bigger” city, Nexø is around 12 minutes away (by car).

We love nature and so we love to be outside a lot.
We like to go to forests, the beach, we hike, we go by bicycle, rollerblading and we love being in our garden. We love to pick berries, collect wild herbs and observe every (little) animal. We love to make little trips to different forests, special nature places, waterfalls and more. Furthermore we like to travel - both, short trips for just a few days, but also longer trips of more than a month.
Moreover, when it's colder outside we also like to go to museums and do inner activities.

I (Jenny) personally like reading, knitting, sewing, cooking, creative projects, yoga and meditation. I'm learning the guitar and aerial yoga.

We are an alternative family and live off the mainstream.
    That includes the following:

    SELF DIRECTED LEARNING / UNSCHOOLING.
The children don’t go to school or kindergarden. They are learning from everyday life.
I am convinced that children learn always and everywhere and that we don’t need to force them to learn something. We just need to give them the right environment.
Children can not NOT learn, it happens all the time - even or especially when they “just” play.
    Bornholm has a big homeschooling/unschooling-community.
Several days a week we meet in the homeschooling-group or in person with other homeschooling families.
We play, learn and have fun together. We already learned about bees, made pine juice, visited a church, cooked soups over the fire, tried to find ways with compass and a map and much more. You are very much invited to join the gatherings or even to go there with the kids alone.
A lot of the other unschooling families also have workaways, so you could meet up with them too.

    VEGAN.
We are a vegan family and only eat plant based products - mainly fresh, organic and healthy. We rarely use refined sugar in our household (but alternatives like xylitol). We eat mostly gluten free, but we are not strict about that.
I’m a big fan of healthy nutrition and I love to fermentate products, I make sprouts and our own (gluten free) bread.
The time you live with our family we ask you to only eat vegan food.

    ATTACHMENT PARENTING.
It's important for us that the needs of all the family members are respected (also the needs of the children!). The kids also have a voice - and we don’t use any punishment or rewards. We try to talk and behave on eye level with each other.

    SUSTAINABLE LIVING.
Sustainable living becomes more and more important for us. We reduced our plastic consumption (and still try to do more - we are still on our way) and try to be mindful with our water consumption.
And a lot of things we make ourselves like deo, toothpaste...

    WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are preferably looking for a danish workaway, so that we all can learn danish.
It would be great if our conversations could be danish and you could "teach" some danish to the kids.
If you are not from Denmark, don’t hesitate to still write to us. It's not obligatory.

Furthermore we have a lot to do in and around the house.
You only help us with the tasks you like (we talk about it before).

We need help with the following:

    - spending time and help homeschool the children. Homeschooling doesn't necessarily mean “school stuff” - it can also mean to sew, to play a board game, to play an instrument, to dance or to paint a picture.
Is there something you like or you are good at - we a grateful if you share it. Homeschooling means more unschooling to us, because the kids are always free to decide if they want to do something or not. Both the kids speak a very good english.

    - Household (such as cooking, cleaning, laundry etc)
    - Garden (mow the lawn, create a bed, work with plants, flowers etc)
    - Repairing, building projects (e.g. new terrace, a raised bed), crafted work

If you like to be creative and want to bring in your own ideas, you are so welcome to do that.
    We love new inspirations.

We are happy if you could help us from morning till lunch.
After lunch you have your own free time.

The time you stay with us, we treat you as a normal family member and you are invited to be with us as often as you want.
We are a very open and flexible family, so we can talk about everything.

    WHERE DO YOU SLEEP?

In our house you get your own room with two beds, a desk and a closet.

We have very good experiences with long-term stays. We already had three workaways who stayed between 3 to 5 month. We prefer people who stay 1 month or more, but also welcome people who want to stay shorter terms.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
