MORE ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY AND OUR INTERN PROGRAM!
We create loving connections with each other, with nature, and with the world at large. We are a community and eco-village that reflects our values of sustainability and harmony. We work, play, communicate and plan in a way that takes everyone into account. In total, we have 47 acres of riverfront nature sanctuary.
There are about 12 of us in the community at present, plus various short and long term guests who come to share their gifts, take a time out, and to learn and grow with us.
We have ongoing gatherings, events, classes and retreats that may interest our work-awayers, including yoga workshops.
Our interns often also arrange work exchanges at our two big local summer festivals - FloydFest and Yoga Jam. We have lots of hikes and interesting field trips in the area.
We have a cooperative meal plan. Delicious abundant food is provided to make your own breakfast and lunch, and we have wonderful varied dinners accommodating vegans, vegetarians and omnivores and other dietary needs - either potluck or taking turns cooking. Our greenhouse, gardens and wild edibles provide much of our organic whole foods, supplemented by local farmers market produce.

We have frequent community gatherings and spontaneous music jams, beautiful land and river access for swimming, kayaking and more. We have an open air river pavilion that is great for doing yoga or qi gong. As an guest house and event location, we are a gathering place for many interesting folks from all around. The town of Floyd Virginia is itself culturally rich, with many varied music, art and holistic programs.
Right now, we have a number of interesting outdoor projects. We are landscaping, gardening, painting interiors and exteriors, upgrading our river kitchen, and much more. We value creativity - musicians, dancers, and artists welcome! We often take time to just enjoy the beauty of nature, make music, and celebrate the great company of each other! We create beautiful and sacred places to be. : )
English, and some of us speak some German, Spanish.
Some of our interns stay in a rustic cabin and a riverside camper and RV next to a river kitchen and warm outdoor showers. The main house is available for hanging out, indoor bathroom & showers, kitchen and meals, and to take part in our many gatherings. We have a hot tub and river swimming and kayaking available! We provide breakfast and lunch foods and have a yummy hot meal almost every night -- leftovers mostly go to our workawayers to use for lunches. We make the 'shopping list' with you in mind! We can accommodate almost any type of diet, as we are vegan, vegetarian, omnivore, gluten free, etc. : )
Floyd, Virginia is a music haven and a very green eco community full of interesting and friendly people! We have FloydFest in July and YogaJam Labor Day weekend, plus many other festivals nearby. There is nearby hiking in gorgeous locations, and the Blue Ridge Parkway to traverse.
