Description
¡Hola Workawayers!
*** We are looking for a pet sitter for Christmas 2026, 7-10 days for our dog, the two cats, and the chicken ***
We moved to paradise (= Galicia) in summer 2025 to settle here, found our little spot on earth, and started working on it in March 2026. Our little red house has 2 bedrooms upstairs and, downstairs, a living room, a kitchen, and another guest room. We’re refurbishing the house and bringing the surrounding garden and land back to life. We also have a piece of land where we have set up a veggie garden and a chicken coop with 5 hens.
We are both self-employed (one as a translator and the other as a renewable energy engineer), working in the morning when our children are at the nearby Waldorf school, then moving on to tasks around the house and garden in the afternoon. We love a good chat, have travelled a fair bit around the world, and have lived in different corners of it. Our two kids (ages 6 and 8) love playing outside and exploring the area on their bikes.
We need you to help us around the garden and land, or, if your stay falls during our absence, we would appreciate a house-sitting arrangement to look after our dog, our two cats, the chicken, and the veggies.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER: A private room and three meals a day, if you'd like to join our family meals. They can either be traditional Spanish (prepared by Nacho) or vegetarian. We can also provide bikes (or even a car) for shopping or discovering the beautiful surroundings.
WHAT WE NEED: Help in the garden and around the house. I'd rather enjoy some free time with my children if you can help me with some daily tasks. Based on your profile and expectations, we can discuss this upfront and work out an arrangement we're all happy with.
Here are some future tasks to be completed in September-October 2026:
- Set up new fences or fix the old ones around the garden. This includes work on the so-far wildly growing vegetation.
- Cut firewood.
- Set up a greenhouse reusing our old windows.
- Re-arrangement of the veggie garden.
- Setting up two tanks to save rainwater for watering.
We’re quite new to Workaway (we’ve hosted once before in our cave house in southern Spain and had a couple of home-exchange and house-sitting arrangements), though not through this platform. We’re experienced couchsurfers and passionate travellers. We speak several languages and truly enjoy connecting with people, exchanging ideas, and learning from different perspectives. If you’re interested, please tell us about yourself and your availability. We'd love to arrange a video call to get to know each other and see whether our co-living ideas align.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We're happy to speak with you and teach you Spanish, English, French, German, or Polish. Our kids are raised in Spanish and Polish, but they're also curious to learn new languages.
We've lived in various places around the world and would be happy to share our experiences and contact information. We love to cook, especially for guests, and we also spend time with fellow travellers.
We're currently immersing ourselves in alternative educational ideas for our children, so we're very happy to exchange information and ideas here. -
