    Description

    May 17-June 5

I have lived in Anchorage Alaska for almost 30 years and am from California originally. I am a scientist by training, an amateur artist, cat rescuer, reader, a laugher, traveler, friend, auntie, and Anchorage is home because it'got the benefits of a small town but just on the outskirts of paradise. I have three cats: Oliver (old man at 15, does his own thing, cuddles every now and then), Lexa (most loving-est cat I've ever had. She lives to cuddle. She is a 6-year old shy cat and so takes a bit of time to trust -she gets depressed when I'm gone), and Henry (a hilarious 2 year old rambunctious/loving boy who was nearly feral until I brought him in at 6 months old. He really takes a while to get used to people. Until they feel safe, Lexa and Henry have good hiding spaces.

I live on the outskirts of our art district "Spenard" and less than 1 mile away is 'The Nave,' a community center, a collection of art studios, restaurants, movie theatres, thrift stores, and other shopping. The coastal trail is an excellent place to bike and it's about a mile away as well. I would definitely encourage checking out the Native Heritage Center and Alaska Museum to understand the context of the original inhabitants of this beautiful place.

While I'm out of the country, I usually have a woman come every day to feed my cats and take care of litter, but they all get depressed so I'm hoping to find someone with a very calm vibe and/or experience with shy cats/rescue cats come stay at my house May 17-June 5. I live in the suburbs near a trail, so I would provide my bike and car for use. I would like someone who doesn't mind keeping their litter cleaned often and does basic tidying. There are also stray cats that I put out food for so to do that too would be part of it. I have a big front yard and back yard and am at the end of a street with awesome neighbors.

I have a 2-bedroom house and two full bathrooms. One of the rooms has a twin bed and the other has a double bed. You would have your own bathroom. Both rooms lock. I would have all linens, blankets, towels provided. I would leave behind a fully stocked pantry and some basics for the refrigerator to get you started, but not for the whole trip. Smoking is fine outside of the house.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Use the car to hike and explore Alaska! Due to the shy nature of the cats, I would ask that guests be kept to an absolute minimum. I don't have a TV, so you would need your laptop (I do have excellent wifi) to entertain yourself.
