    About us

My name is Nicoletta and my Country House is a peaceful small private farm surrounded by nature near Cagliari, Sardinia. The property is surrounded by lavender fields and open spaces where animals live freely — two Labradors, two corgis, some peacocks, hens, horses, and other friendly companions.
My husband is a surgeon, and I am the artistic director of a contemporary art center. Santa Igia is not a commercial farm, but a private home where we live and take care of the land because we love animals and nature.
On the property there are a few apartments that I rent occasionally to guests to help maintain the place, but Workawayers are not involved in this activity , they help only with the private garden, the land, and simple outdoor maintenance.
I’m looking for Workawayers who enjoy doing tasks outdoors and can help with taking care of the garden, maintaining green areas, and repairing or building simple fences and outdoor structures. If you like nature, manual tasks, and spending time in a quiet environment, you’ll feel at home here.

    Why you’ll love it here

This place is located near the lagoon of Santa Gilla, famous for its flamingos. The sea, mountains, and the lively city of Cagliari are just a short ride away. Sardinia offers an incredible mix of nature, history, and traditions—you can explore beaches, archaeological sites, and charming villages during your free time.
    Who’s here
It’s mainly me and my husband living here and taking care of the property, sometimes with the help of local friends. Our two Labradors, Moka and Jana, and the two corgis, Lilibeth and Maggie, will keep you company and make sure you never feel alone!
This is a simple, warm, and natural place where your help will really make a difference.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Staying at home means being surrounded by Sardinian nature and traditions. I am happy to share with Workawayers what I know about local plants, Mediterranean gardening, and the rhythms of life in the countryside. If you are curious, I can also introduce you to Sardinian food culture, stories about the island, and sometimes local community events.
You’ll have the chance to spend time in Cagliari, a lively Mediterranean city with history, art, and music, but also to explore the mountains, beaches, and small villages nearby.
I love learning from people who come from different countries and backgrounds. Every Workawayer brings new perspectives and stories, and this exchange makes the experience richer for everyone

    What else ...

During your free time you can explore the beautiful surroundings: the Santa Gilla lagoon with its flamingos, the beaches near Cagliari, the mountains and traditional villages in the area. Cagliari city centre is easy to reach by public transport, but having a small car, scooter or bike will give you more independence to move around and discover Sardinia.
    About us & house rules
Your hosts are two professionals, a medical doctor and a contemporary art curator, who both love nature and are used to working hard. We are often busy with activities beyond the farm, so a little spirit of independence is appreciated.
The atmosphere at Santa Igia is calm and respectful. We ask Workawayers to keep the accommodation and shared spaces clean and to respect the animals and the natural environment.
