    Description

    Hari Om,

My name is Andy, and I manage this old farm house on the island of Falster. First of all I would like to mention a vision / project I have for this place, which is a kind of Monastery / not a Monastery / Ashram in spirit. In case anyone should find that interesting, please feel free to check out halskovkloster.dk for more in-depth information. With that idea, I am looking to attract like-minded people with similar interests and aspirations, that would like to stay here for longer periods of time, and on equal terms. That being said, I am still interested in continuing inviting and hosting "normal" Workawayers here! :) In this way, I will be very happy to facilitate the usual dynamic of working 3-4 hours a day, 5 times a week, shorter stays and so on. In terms of work it can be anything to do with the farm. This spring of 2025 it can be any sort of preparation and care of the garden. We are also looking to work on one of the outer walls of the main building, as well as painting some windows.

Falster is the name of the island, which is just south of the more known island Sjælland, and close to Germany. We are located right next to a forest called "Fortidsminde", and you will only have to walk or bike a few meters more to enter another big forest, that runs all along the coastline in this area and right next to the ocean. Around 4 kilometers away, you have a small local organic produce shop, with locally grown good stuff to add to the kitchen, should we not have any more home-grown vegetables left. The food here is quite simple, organic and vegan.

There is a very nice ping pong table in the barn! :) there is a good and stable internet connection, if you have other projects to manage for example.

There is a small car we can use for emergencies, or for picking you up at the local railway station for example. That being said, I also enjoy showing people around on the island by car sometimes :)

The closest big city is called Nykøbing Falster and is located around 17 km. away from here. If needed, I can pick you up from there when arriving and drive you back when leaving. I know there's a bus driving quite close to here as well, but I don't really mind either way.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

    Best regards (peace and love),

    Andy

As mentioned already, this spring of 2025 the tasks can be any sort of preparation and maintenance of the garden. Would be lovely to apply some permaculture principles, but not any expectations of any kind of knowledge before coming here. We are also looking to work on one of the outer walls of the main building, as well as whitewashing the rest of the buildings (liming?). I will make sure we know how to approach these tasks, and all tasks should be pretty simple and straight forward. Should you have any special skills, its kind of a free and open space to discuss other possible tasks. Simple cleaning inside the house could also be a thing. I would also love some help with spreading awareness of the long term "monastery" project. Maybe taking some nice photos, trying to figure out some kind of social media and stuff like that. It would also help me in a way, if you would simply be open to try and spend some days inviting yoga and meditation into your life.
