    Description

    Hi Workawayers,
thanks for stopping by to check out our profile.
We've already found some of you to help us this season. We'll likely need help again at the start of October 2026 and then again between November and December.

We'll need help primarily in the garden and with cooking.
It's too early to plan right now, but if you're interested, please let us know and we'll get back to you when we launch our hosting program. Thank you.

We are a retired couple. Fabrizio is Italian and I’m Irish (Yvonne). We both took early retirement in July 2021 to pursue our dream of moving to Sicily. We've completed the renovation of our beautiful house with a large garden, just 800 meters from the sea and its beautiful beaches. We're currently focusing on some gardening tasks.

We love Sicily, love good food, and enjoy the sunshine. We can provide lovely accommodation, with your own private room and bathroom, and all meals that you can help us cook, to someone who’d be happy to get stuck in to general work in both the house and the garden.
The garden in particular needs a lot of attention and will require some pretty physical work. Ideally we would need someone familiar with garden tools such as motor hoe, brush cutter, hedge trimmers etc. Although work on the house is almost complete there may be odd jobs to do inside and also help with general housekeeping.

Our house is 3km outside the seaside town of Pozzallo. It’s a vibrant town all year round. Bigger towns of Ispica and Modica are a bus ride away. There's a train station in Pozzallo if you'd like to explore a little further afield.

A great opportunity to learn Italian, enjoy some authentic Sicilian life and see a neglected garden brought back to life. So far, we've really enjoyed being Workaway hosts and have kept in touch with many of our lovely volunteers. We like the social part of the workaway experience and enjoy getting to know our volunteers.

Sadly we can not help Workawayers looking for residency.

We cannot provide you with any insurance while staying with us nor with travel insurance, so we advise you to take care of that matter on your own (workaway.info/en/info/insurance). However, we do our best to provide a safe environment to avoid any accidents from happening in the first place.

Thank you for taking the time to read our profile :-)

We are happy to work with volunteers on their language skills - Italian and/or English
We would enjoy sharing cooking skills as we love to cook typical Italian/Sicilian (and Irish) dishes, both savoury and sweet… We can say for sure that your DIY skills and gardening skills will certainly be improved after a stay with us.

  • Help

    Help

We will need help mainly in the garden, we need someone who knows planting and or pruning, someone who knows how to use garden tools, manual, electric and motorized (hoe, motor hoe, hedge trimmer, brush...).
We could also need some help in the house; supporting Fabrizio in doing some DIY tasks, light painting, cleaning etc.
Last but not least, help in the kitchen, to teach us your favorite dishes and to learn Sicilian, Roman and Irish cuisine is always very welcome.
