    Description

    Hello beautiful people,

we are big family tribe consisting of 3 adults and 6 kids, some cats, 2 dogs and 4 horses, living here on the beautiful island of Bornholm. We have bought an old farm, which we are slowly but surely renovating and bringing back to life.

We love Bornholm. There is such a sense of peace on this island. Our farm lies in the Eastern corner, close to Svaneke. We are only a bike ride away from the beautiful coast line as well as the forest. There is always something to do and explore around here.

After spending much of our first year here to free our farm of old rubbish (we still haven't finished yet, believe me) we have begun to look into how to map a permaculture sort of garden, decide which areas could remain as wild as can be, while freeing others of brambles. We are observing how the water flows on the land in the wintertime and why certain pipes get blocked for no apparent reasons - what we could do with a garden patch in our yard and which trees makes sense to be planted where. There is tons going on everyday, however, as there is no need to get anywhere in a rush, it feels just like an inspiring creative process.

Our kids grew up mainly in Brazil. When coming to the island we were homeschooling them until recently, when our oldest daughter decided to join the village school. Since then 4 out of the 5 remaining kids have decided to join, while one of the younger members is still staying home and enjoys her calm time with animals and her own playtime in the mornings.

We love to make music and work outside together, have a fire in the yard and spend quality time with our animals and each other.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Our tribe is from all over the place. We adults are originally from Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Denmark, our kids have some additional Indian and Irish in their genes and have mainly grown up in Brazil. We love to get to know people from all over the world and give back some of the hospitality we have experienced while traveling ourselves - which we all have done to a great extent. We love creativity in all its forms, and are enjoying right now to integrate here on the Island. While our household connects you more the culture of the world, there are many festivals and cultural activities taking place around here which connect you with the local culture.

On the farm itself there are many areas where we can do with some support. Depending on your interests you can get involved with the garden, restoration of the buildings, as well as the animal care. Our place is really dedicated to inspire for creativity and connectivity, so feel free to also share your gifts! If it is your love for poetry or you enjoy going and looking for some wild herbs, we really wish to get to know you as much as you probably will get to know us and our farm.

At times we have specific projects which we wish to realize. Right now these are
    - Creating a kitchen garden from scratch. the area has been prepared last year, however we are wishing to look into how we go on from here
    - having someone come and be with us and our horses. we would love to learn more about a gentle natural relationship with horses, how we can interact clearer and understand theses beautiful animals even better. having horses is new to us, however we are in love with theses creatures.

If you do the tasks alone or we are doing them together depends very much on what you will be doing and what makes sense in terms of its organisation. In essence, we are here most of the time and wish for you to be as happy as possible. So understanding your wishes and needs will help us to determine what and how you will be doing it.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The accomodation depends on the months you will be staying here. In the winter months there is a container home available to you, which can be heated with a small fire oven. In summer months we at times set up a round tent, some have set up a tent inside the barns, of course the container is also available however at times rented. There is plenty of space in case you are traveling with you own campervan!

You are welcome to eat breakfast and lunch with us. Dinner time we prefer to organise independently - naturally we will also speak and just see what works best for us all.
