    Description

We are an international language school and cultural center run by a non-profit organisation. We are located near the center of the village of Mazunte on the Oaxaca Coast, on a hill with beautiful sea view and always touched by a fresh breeze.

Since 2010, we've been offering immersive Spanish classes to travelers and foreign residents worldwide. Additionally, we host English classes for the local community and others languages classes. Our project is not just a school, it's a space that functions as a place of exchange for different people and cultures and that is, for all students and visitors of Instituto Iguana, a welcoming place to arrive, relax and enjoy.

Founded in 2005 by Mexican and German friends (Ana & Eule), the project is now led by María and Elsa. As a volunteer, you'll be an integral part of our team, working closely with them both and with our teacher's team.
Ana and Eule, the school's founders, spend part of the year living at the school. Panuncio, responsible for gardens, cleaning, and maintenance, ensures the school remains a safe and welcoming space.

HELP WITH SCHOOL FACILITIES (: Fluent Spanish and English)

Our high season lasts from December until March-April. If you join us, here's what you'll be doing from Monday to Friday, 9 am-2 pm.
    - Reception: Welcome and register new students, assist the pedagogic coordinator in organizing schedules, timetables, receiving the payments, updating the teaching materials, prepare and serve coffee and being a bridge between the students and teachers.
    - Marketing Support: (Depending on the volunteer's skills) help with Social Media content and distribute school flyers in designated spots around the village.
    - Shared Spaces: Clean up your office space. Since we share the kitchen and restroom, keep them clean. (Just like any shared apartment.)
*Requirements*: We need you to speak fluent Spanish (at least at an intermediate-advanced level) and perfect English.

We're an intercultural team from Mexico, Germany, Spain, and France, along with our friendly dog and four cats. Smoking is permitted. Our school is conveniently located just 5 minutes from the beach, offering various activities like swimming, snorkeling, diving, stand-up paddleboarding, surfing, and opportunities for whale, dolphin, and turtle watching. Public transport options include pickups and taxis, but since the village is small, walking is an easy option. The nearest airports, Huatulco and Puerto Escondido, are both just a 1-hour drive away.
