    Description

We are family-operated wilderness tourism businesses based in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. Together, we live and share an authentic northern lifestyle centered around adventure, wilderness travel, and working dogs.

We own and care for a team of approximately 60 sled dogs and embrace the year-round lifestyle that comes with mushing and living in the North. Our days are filled with training dogs, preparing for expeditions, maintaining trails and equipment, guiding outdoor adventures, and constantly working outdoors in all seasons.

We offer guided river expeditions, canoe adventures, wilderness experiences, and dog sledding experiences that connect people to the raw beauty of the Yukon. We are passionate about sharing real northern life with travelers from around the world.

Workaway guests who join us become part of our daily lifestyle and operations. Depending on the season, tasks may include helping care for sled dogs, feeding and cleaning kennels, outdoor property projects, trail work, hospitality, trip preparation, firewood, gardening, content creation, and general camp life.

This experience is best suited for people who:

    Love animals and the outdoors
    Are hardworking and adaptable
Enjoy physical work and hands-on living
Want to experience authentic Yukon wilderness culture
Appreciate simple living, adventure, and meaningful experiences

Life here can be rugged, rewarding, and unforgettable — long summer evenings, northern lights, river trips, campfires, wilderness travel, and a close connection to nature and animals.

In exchange for help, we provide free accommodation, an hourly rate of $19 CAD, opportunities to explore the Yukon, and a chance to learn about wilderness living, river expeditions, and sled dog culture while becoming part of our northern lifestyle.

    Cultural Exchange

We believe Workaway is about much more than just work — it’s about sharing experiences, culture, and lifestyle. Guests will experience authentic life in the Yukon and become part of our day-to-day northern lifestyle.

Helpers will have the opportunity to learn about:

    Yukon wilderness living
Sled dog culture and mushing lifestyle
    Canoe expeditions and backcountry travel
    Outdoor survival and camp skills
    Life in remote Northern Canada

We love sharing stories, meals, adventures, and experiences from life in the North, and we enjoy learning about the backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives of the people who stay with us. Workaway guests become part of our family environment and daily routines rather than just workers passing through.

Depending on the season, helpers may join us for campfires, hikes, river outings, dog training runs, community events, and exploring the incredible Yukon wilderness. There are many opportunities to experience the land, wildlife, and unique culture that make the Yukon such a special place.

We hope guests leave not only with new skills and experiences, but with meaningful memories, friendships, and a deeper connection to nature and northern life.

    Type of Help Needed

We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking people to help with our daily sled dog and wilderness tourism operations.

A big part of the experience involves helping care for our team of approximately 60 sled dogs. Daily tasks may include:

    Feeding and watering dogs
    Cleaning kennels and dog yards
Spending time with and socializing the dogs
Assisting with trail and property maintenance
Helping with dog training and general kennel work

We also need help preparing for our guided canoe and wilderness trips. This may include:

    Organizing and packing canoe gear
    Cleaning and maintaining equipment
Preparing food and supplies for expeditions
Loading trailers and organizing storage areas
General outdoor projects and camp upkeep

This is a hands-on outdoor lifestyle, so we are looking for people who are comfortable working outside in all weather conditions, enjoy physical work, and have a positive attitude. Experience with dogs, camping, or outdoor adventure is a bonus, but not required — willingness to learn and work hard is most important.

In return, you’ll experience authentic Yukon life, spend time with amazing sled dogs, learn wilderness and expedition skills, and be part of a true northern adventure lifestyle.
