Help with some home projects on a vegetable farm in Ås, Sweden

  Welcome!
  My name is Jorun, I grow organic vegetables on about 4 hectars together with employes and family. During the summers it's intense work with growing and harvest and a lot of customers are making the trip out of town to visit us. We have a farm-shop, and also flowers, strawberries, There is also pizza-nights and other events during august/september. This summer I need help with the house. It´s in need of painting and the windows really need do be taken care of. And the list goes on =)
  
  I´m also a musician, love to dance and I am the mother of two small kids. To have travellers staying, in some way I feel like I´m also travelling and exploring the world. And also the thankfullness that comes with the help is nice.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  Travelleres will learn about eco farming in the northern Sweden and have the exchange in meeting the people living and working here at the farm. Travellers will also learn some carpenting work. We are a lot of people working and its intense work, high tempo and a lot of fun!

  Help

  This year I need help renovating the house. Painting the house with line-oil-based paint. Fixing the windows and other wood details is also needed. There is also possible to help with the farm. I have two small kids part time and a household to take care of by myself, so it is great to be more than one to get the household work done.
  
  June and july we plant all the vegetables, taking care of them and the greenhouses. In the end of July and through August and September we open our farm shop for customers as the crops are ready for harvest. Most of it is done manually, among other things you will join us as we make bundles of carrots and beetroots by hand on the field. We sort them, clean them, store them and often times they go directly to the shop and the customers hands. We also take care of all the vegetables, that means weeding, fixing in the greenhouses and making everything look nice.

  Accommodation

  Living here with us would mean you have a room on the farm where we also live, sometimes we cook and eat together, but the kitchen is open to use as we wish. The day for the workers begins at 8 am and you'd work until your 5 hours has gone, you can also choose to work a whole day to have the next day more free to explore the surroundings.

  What else ...

  Ås is a village not far from the city of Östersund. There are bicycles to be borrowed and bus to take to go there. We also live 1,5 h from the mountains where you could go hike. Its very nice to enjoy the nature of Jämtland. In august/september there are berries in the woods, blueberries, cloudberries and lingonberries. And a lot more to do!
