    Description

I am a music loving creative individual. My LGBTQ2S+ friendly home is bright and sunny and well situated close to everything in Comox. We have a private back patio, a sunny front balcony, and a shared garden space. Sorry, no smoking anything or vaping on premises.

Our apartment has a big kitchen with all the appliances (including a great dishwasher), cozy living room with heat pump, private bedroom and full bathroom. Private laundry downstairs. There is a grocery store nearby.

My dog is a fairly small rat-terrier/chihuahua cross. He's 16 years old but still fairly active. He likes to walk or run beside my bike 2-4 times a day. He likes to eat or sleep or get some scratches. He has his own beds.

My cat is friendly and likes to snuggle. But watch out she can turn on you suddenly. She likes to be let in/out through the balcony door. Even though she spends her nights indoors with us (as per her choice, sometimes she stays out all night) she mostly does her business outside, so the kitty litter rarely needs changing. She sleeps wherever she wants to.

Comox is a town in the Comox Valley, on the east side of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. We are approximately a 4 hour drive north of Victoria. 1 1/5 hours drive north from Nanaimo. A few hours east of Tofino/Uclulet. Less than one hour drive south of Campbell River.

The Comox Valley is a beautiful area surrounded by ocean, mountain, rivers, lakes and non-stop beauty. This fertile land was stewarded since immemorial and traditionally shared by many Nations and families of the First People's. The European settlement of these lands was fairly recent and caused harm to the People who were here first.

2025 marks the ratification of the very first treaty between the Canadian government and the Komox nation. This treaty, in part, restores a fraction of what has been taken by colonialism. Reconciliation continues to be learned and practiced imperfectly by settler Canadians, like myself.

In the Comox Valley and nearby, there are too many outdoor activities and cultural activities and opportunities to list here. I am happy to provide links and ideas to help you land and explore during your time here.

Feed and walk dog in the am. Take dog out in afternoon for short walk. Feed and walk dog in the pm. Fill cat's food and water dish. Let cat in/out on request while there. If you are gone all day, she'll be fine. Dog will be lonely after a couple of days on his own. This wouldn't suit someone who will be away all day every day.

Your time housesitting will be while I am away from my home. You will sleep in my private bedroom on my Queen size bed. I will clear my personal items from the surfaces and will empty some drawers for you, so you can make yourself comfortable.

You will be in charge of providing and cooking your own food. Any items in my refrigerator you can eat. Please don't touch my items in the freezer. I will leave space for you in the fridge, freezer, and a cupboard.

There is a public bus system here in the Comox Valley. Bus fare is $2.00. There are taxis in the area. There is off-street parking, if you have your own car.

There are several apartments in this house, with house rules that there is no noise after 10pm, and laundry can only be done every other day. There is no smoking of anything or vaping anywhere on the premises. If you are a smoker/toker/vaper you will have to go elsewhere to do so.
