  Experience Araucanía by sharing family life in Angol
  
  Our family, composed by Gonzalo, a doctor, Daniela, his wife, and our young daughter Alfonsina (10), is willing to share time with English speaking visitors and strongly interested learning the language and about their lifestyles.
  
  Our two other older siblings, María Ignacia and Nicolás, are university students living in Chillán and Temuco, the two bigger closest cities; they come home once in a while.
  
  Gonzalo is a gastroenterologist working on his private medical practice on endoscopic procedures. Daniela is a topographer, now running Gonzalo´s consultancy and the house. Besides, Daniela runs an embroidery and sewing workshop for those interested in these artistic developments.
  
  We live in the city of Angol, in the southern Araucanía region, next to the Cordillera Nahuelbuta (a coastal mountain range which includes a national park, allowing a view from the Andes to the Pacific Ocean). Our house is located in a residential neighborhood. The city is calm and medium sized; provided with supermarkets, shops, drugstores, schools, banks, hospital, etc.
  
  Angol is one and a half hour from Temuco, the regional capital; three hours away from either Pucón or Valdivia; forty minutes from Los Ángeles; two hours from Concepción; two hours from the seashore… there´s lots to see and discover.
  
  And also, 110 km distant from Pemehue, an Andean valley where we have our second home: a cabin construction project on the Renaico river shore. We go there almost every weekend. The scenery is wonderful: surrounded by leafy wild forests and mountain ranges crowned with ancient Araucaria trees. Trekking tracks reach small lakes and the Motrulo hill (guides available). Watch wild animal and the condors if lucky and views to six volcanoes from the mountain tops. During winter time, the hills are white with snow and occasions we get it on our house, whose boundary is the birth of the Renaico river, a pristine lovely creek fenced by native trees, apt for fly fshing.
  
  Next to us there is a rustic hot spring and further a renowned craft brewery, “MORTULO®”, where you can taste it´s varieties and maybe cook a batch with their brew masters, who are our friends.
  
  In Pemehue we have two friendly horses for doing rides, a big danish (Thor) and a hot tub for a well gained relax back from the exploring adventures.
  
  Both houses are ample provided with gardens, internet and telephone connection and a working studio. In Angol we have a swimming pool to refresh the summer high temperatures and other two big danes (Luna y Zomko).
  
  We are a traditional, loving and respectful family willing to host friendly our visitors.

  Mi nombre es Gonzalo Figueroa estoy casado con Daniela tenemos tres hijos, dos de ellos estudiantes universitarios María Ignacia y Nicolás, nuestra tercera hija se llama Alfonsina y tiene 10 años.
  
  Soy Médico gastroenterólogo trabajo en mi consulta privada y en pabellón de procedimientos endoscopicos. Mi esposa es topógrafo de profesión, pero hace unos años se dedica a trabajos administrativos de nuestra consulta y también a las tareas del hogar.
  
  Somos una familia nuclear de siete integrantes, pero la mayor parte del tiempo (Marzo a Diciembre) solo somos tres en casa ya que nuestros hijos universitarios estudian en otras ciudades (Chillan y Temuco) respectivamente, nos visitan solo algunos fines de semana.
  
  Vivimos en el sur de Chile, (región de la araucaria) en la ciudad de Angol en un barrio residencial (ciudad mediana y tranquila) que cuenta con supermercados, tiendas, farmacias, colegios, bancos, hospital etc.
  
  Angol es una ciudad que está muy bien ubicada en nuestra región, está muy cerca del Parque Nacional Nahuelbuta, en autobús a una hora y media de la capital regional Temuco, tres horas de Pucon, tres horas de Valdivia a cuarenta minutos de la ciudad de Los Ángeles, a dos horas de la ciudad de Concepción, a dos horas del mar, en fin… mucho para conocer y descubrir.
  
  Nuestra familia cuenta con una segunda casa en la cordillera de Los Andes, en la reserva nacional Malleco específicamente en el valle de Pemehue a la que vamos casi todos los fines de semana, el paisaje es maravilloso, frondosa vegetación y a los pies de nuestra parcela nace el río Renaico de aguas transparentes y puras, senderos de treking, ahí se encuentra el imponente cerro Motrulo (tronador) al que se puede llegar con un guía local y así apreciar la majestuosa vista, araucarias milenarias y la fauna que las montañas nos ofrecen. Montañas que en los meses de invierno se cubren de nieve y en el mes julio la nieve se extiende hasta nuestra parcela, haciéndonos disfrutar de un paisaje único. Cerca de nuestra parcela (en medio de las montañas) hay una fábrica de cerveza artesanal muy cotizada por los visitantes, donde se pueden degustar sus exquisitas preparaciones “Cerveza Motrulo” y con un poco de suerte tal vez podamos cocinar con sus dueños que son nuestros amigos.
  
  En nuestra parcela de Pemehue, tenemos dos caballos muy amigables que queremos mucho y que nos acompañan en jornadas de cabalgatas, además de una exquisita tinaja de agua caliente para el merecedor baño y relajo después de un día de actividades.
  
  Ambas casas disponen de Internet y red telefónica (celular).
  
  Ambas casas espaciosas, con áreas verdes y en Angol tenemos una piscina para capear las altas temperaturas que en esta ciudad nos acompañan de diciembre a marzo.
  
  Tenemos en Angol dos perros gran danés (Luna y Zomko)
  
  En Pemehue también tenemos un gran danés que se llama Thor.
  
  Somos una familia tradicional, afectuosa y respetuosa y por sobre todo dispuesta a brindar una grata estadía a nuestro huésped.

  As we live in the Araucanía Region, inhabited 25% by a Mapuche ethnic population, it is posible to learn about their cultura, language, rituals, gastronomy, ancestral medicine, clothing amongst others. And visit a Mapuche ruka (traditional Mapuche housing).
  Also, make a river journey on a motorboat through the Boldo river.

  Vivimos en la región de La Araucaria, habitada en un 25 % por indígenas mapuches. En ella es posible ver, visitar e interactuar con este pueblo originario, aprender de sus ancestros, lengua, rituales, gastronomía, medicina, vestimenta entre otros. A poca distancia podemos visitar rucas (viviendas del pueblo mapuche).
  También emprender una travesía por el río Boldo.

  Help

  ENGLISH VERSION
  
  Our main need is having Alfonsina learn English. She is ten years old and on fifth grade during 2023. Although at school she has an English subject, it isn’t enough to achieve a reasonable reading-writing-talking level. She leaves to school at 8:00 and comes back at 15:30. Thereon, she is available for a couple of hours of reinforcement in English by our volunteer.
  
  And, all members of the family group are strongly willing to learning English too.
  
  We would also appreciate some collaboration during the early hours to our maid, Gladys, on the house chores.
  
  VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOL
  
  Nuestra principal necesidad es que nuestra hija Alfonsina de 10 años pueda aprender inglés (hablamos sólo español); ella cursa actualmente quinto año de enseñanza general básica y, si bien en el colegio tiene la asignatura de inglés, no es suficiente para alcanzar el nivel que quisiéramos. En ese orden también que nuestro huésped pase tiempo de entretención y de esparcimiento con nuestra hija a modo de reforzar permanentemente el idioma inglés. Alfonsina parte diariamente a las 8:00 al colegio y regresa a las 15:30 de la tarde. Desde esa hora estaría disponible para reforzar sus conocimientos de inglés con la voluntaria.
  
  Todos los miembros de la familia estamos también interesados en aprender inglés interactuando con nuestros voluntarios.
  
  Durante el período previo, agradeceríamos que nuestro huésped pueda cooperar en alguna labor doméstica como apoyo nuestra querida ama de casa (Gladys) encargada de esas tareas.

  We have a room with two beds available for Workawayers, bathroom, in our house.
  Food will be provided by us according to our cooking style on a three daily meal basis (breakfast, lunch, dinner), sharing the table with us.
