    Description

*We are looking for a couple or two friends, or a single workawayer to help at our East Sussex Beech Estate Campsite*
*As the campsite is a few miles from shops and in the busy times is hard to provide lifts, ideally we'd like someone with their own transport*

Are you interested in living an alternative lifestyle? We are currently on the look out for a couple or two friends to assist the Campsite Manager (who started working for us through Workaway in 2020) and work as Campsite Warden(s) for the 2021 summer.

Please note these are all paid positions and all applicants need to be able to legally work in the UK. We pay at least National Minimum Wage.

Our East Sussex Campsite is set on a beautiful private 600 acre woodland. We have thirty camping pitches, including eight bell tents. We operate low noise, family-oriented campsites and no cars are allowed on site. We offer the closest thing to wild camping, with the added luxury of basic facilities. There is mains drinking water and running hot water, but no electricity. And, of course, lots of trees. The campsite is completely off grid and your accommodation would be in a bell tent on the campsite.

It would be preferential to have a car as we are based in a remote location.

    Warden Characteristics -

    *Hard working, diligent and responsible

*Enjoys interacting with people, including children, with a strong customer service focus

    *Loves the outdoors and camping

*Physically fit and active - there is a degree of lifting and moving of heavy objects required

*Would suit people seeking an alternative lifestyle

*Relaxed, down to earth, happy person - we run a chilled out campsite

*Practical with good general maintenance and DIY skills

*Self-starter, who is not satisfied with average and thinks outside the box

    Timing & Commitment -

*The position(s) will be from mid/end of July - beginning of September. We also have need for people during May bank holidays and half terms.

*Wardens may be asked to swap locations (between East and our West Sussex campsite) as cover or to provide variety, or to allow specialist skills to be used of one warden at different sites

*Expected hours working ranges between 20 hours per week to 40 hours in peak times

You will be responsible for the campsite and all of its guests.

*Bell tent set up and take down

    *Arrivals and Departures

    *Cleaning of facilities

    *Cleaning of bell tents

    *General maintenance around the campsite

    *Compost toilet waste disposal

*Ensuring customers have an enjoyable stay

    Your hosts:
We are a small and friendly company with an interest in sustainability and creating a very nice working environment. Lots of social activities and nights around the campfire enjoying each others company. Your main point of contact will be the Campsite Manager, Hugh the business owner and Katie, the Office Manager. The interactions with campers from all backgrounds means it creates a diversity of social experiences.

This is a great opportunity to immerse yourselves in nature and learn more about British woodlands and their flora and fauna. Previous 'workawayers' have left with new Bushcraft skills, learnt to cook on open fires and gained lots of practical skills . We have a large veggie patch for the staff where we grow lots of summer produce.

To apply please tell us a bit about yourself, why you would like to work with us, what relevant experience you have.
