    Description

I am an active retired nurse. I enjoy paddling, hiking, foraging for food and preserving food. I live in a tall well kept home, with 2 people renting a suite in my basement. I love having travellers stay with me. I have hosted through warm showers and couch surfing and paddle groups in the past. I would love some help with power washing the house, mowing the lawn, washing windows and downsizing some contents. In exchange, I can taking you mushroom or berry picking when in season, show you around, take you to see reversing tidal rapids, walk through meadows and marshes and cook with you. I have bicycles or a bus stop across the street. I live in a beautiful coastal city that is the starting point of BC ferries for going to Haida Gwaii or Vancouver Island.
I have a nice quiet comfortable space for guests, with a spare bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. Upstairs is a large kitchen and open area for cooking and socializing.

I love to forage for food ( mushrooms and berries are examples). I can show you how to preserve and use the foraged food, I also preserve fish, make kamboocha, yogurt and sourdough. Happy to share baking and preserving knowledge.

There are lovely trails to hike, coffee shops on a trail near the ocean, beautiful outdoors to explore, there’s also a museum with lots of First Nations displays, and a museum of an old fish cannery that is very interesting,
