  • Description

    ¡Hola! Hi there! Hallo!
We need some help with our big jungle garden :-)
Some experience would be better... If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, please join our team asap!

We offer free accomoadation and will kindly ask to spend 4 hrs per day helping in our garden, walk dogs, feed the chicken or to support us in other projects (painting, easy building etc.)
Of course the use of our kitchen and all other hostel facilities is included as well as free, strong WiFi!

As soon as tourism picks up again, we will be looking for friendly, responsible and open-minded receptionists who can also help with keeping the kitchen tidy.
A good level of Spanish is required since we have a lot of guests who only speak Spanish...
And also a high level of Englisch is required since we have a lot of guests who only speak English...

(Again when tourism picks up: We are also looking for a volunteer who would like to take care of our daughter (7yrs old, born 2012) -
with homework, reading, writing, also to play games, draw, chat... Can be in English, Spanish or German.
Same conditions like the other position: Around 4 hrs per day, 5 days per week for free accomodation and basics provided plus a small salary per working day.)

Our hostel is a family-run hostel, located in the jungle, surrounded by lush nature, close to a beautiful waterfall but 4 km away from the beach (walking distance around one hour).
    It's NO party hostel ;-)
We are a German familie running the hostel.

    Looking forward to meeting you!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Don't be afraid of the jungle!
We are not really far away from civilization, but there are bugs and other funny smaller or bigger creatures around...

Uvita is a small village in the district Costa Ballena/Osa - we are located on the way to Uvita's mountains, within walking distance to the beach and to Uvita's waterfalls.
To the beach you'll walk lbetween 45 min to one hour (15min by car), to the closest waterfall only 5 to 15 minutes walk.
    Next supermarket: 5-20 minutes walk.

We are an eco friendly ho(s)tel.
We are child friendly - we have a daughter, too.

    We are NO party hostel!
Quiet time is 10pm and no guests are allowed due to security reasons.

    Some important hints and facts:
As mentioned: We are no party hostel and Uvita' is not famous for nightlife neither.
We also recommend being an outdoor person if you want to become our volunteer ;-)
We have kids, they can be noisy and they will ask you to draw with them or to play cards.
We are located in the jungle - clothes get dirty and stay damp all the time - please don't bring your best clothing with you...
Please be aware of Costa Rican constructions:
Everything is open, bugs can come in, you may see a scorpion, spiders, snakes... but nothing is really dangerous here.

Please bring a flashlight (power goes off once in a while) and a small umbrella.
Maybe bring a moskito net and very few warmer clothes which will only be needed rarely...

    About the area:
We are located 5-15 minutes walking distance from Uvita's beautiful waterfall where you can swim, relax, slide in...
Within 5-20 minutes walk you'll find everything you need such as ATM, bank, supermarkets, many restaurants, ice cream, souvenir shops and bus stops to all directions (we will provide further information).

Our hostel & hotel are located in a jungle garden but Uvita is pretty big and growing.
It's famous for it's whale tale shaped beach, pretty good surf and of course for whales and dolphins (that's why the beach is a national park called "Marino Ballena")!

    ¡Hasta luego!
    Julie, Stephan and Luzie

    Can host digital nomads

Hi there! We are happy to host digital nomads and frequently do - we have plenty of space and very strong and stable WiFi. The only problem could be if you teach or need to talk for work, to make sure not to work between 10pm and 6/7am Costa Rican time because our house is very poorly sound proofed and any noise at night would disturb other guests. But apart from that our volunteer program works great for digital nomads! ¡Hasta luego!
