Description
Dear Workawayers!
We are a friendly family of five – with two young children (2 and 4 years old) and our lovely grandmother Karin – living on a small private farm just 30 minutes from Hamburg.
We’re mainly looking for kind and caring female Workawayers to support us with our children in everyday family life and the gardenwork around the house. If you enjoy spending time with little ones, playing, crafting, exploring nature, and joining in daily routines, you’ll feel right at home with us!
You’ll usually be working alongside Julia and the children or with Karin around the farm. We love to share skills and stories, and we see hosting as a great opportunity for cultural exchange and mutual learning. Whether it’s trying out new recipes, sharing parenting insights, or discovering local traditions, we enjoy learning from our guests just as much as they learn from us.
We value a warm, open, and respectful atmosphere and love welcoming someone into our home who is cheerful, motivated, and enjoys rural family life.
We can host up to two Workawayers at a time and currently have a beautiful, bright, and modern private apartment available for you. We provide full board and accommodation, and you’ll have two days off per week – ideally on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or over the weekend. A car is available for shopping or small trips during your stay.
If you're a female traveler looking to experience authentic German family life, enjoy working with kids and animals, and maybe even love being creative on social media – we’d be happy to hear from you and welcome you into our home!
Warm greetings from the countryside!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Staying with us offers a great opportunity to experience life on a family- horse farm in Germany. You will be welcomed as part of our family, sharing daily meals and spending time together. You’ll gain hands-on experience in stable and farm work, gardening, and cooking, while also enjoying the peaceful countryside just 30 km from Hamburg.
We regularly take trips to Schönberger Strand, a popular holiday destination, where we have our own vacation apartment. On your days off, you are welcome to join us! In the summer, it’s a great place to swim in the Baltic Sea and enjoy the beautiful coastline.
We are also looking for someone to help with our social media! If you have experience in creating content, taking photos and videos, and managing social media platforms, we would love your support in sharing our farm life online.
What We Offer:
A warm family connection – you’ll be part of our daily life.
Daily lunch, free board, and lodging – we provide all meals.
Free accommodation in a newly built private apartment on the farm.

Help
In addition to helping with the kids, we also appreciate support with:
• simple meal prep or cooking
• caring for our two retired horses (feeding, mucking out, grooming)
• if you're interested: help with our social media presence (e.g., taking photos, writing posts, or creating content)
We always try to match the tasks to your interests and strengths. If, for example, you prefer working with horses rather than children, that’s absolutely possible – we’re happy to divide the responsibilities in a way that works for everyone.
You’ll usually be working alongside Julia and the children or with Karin around the farm. We love to share skills and stories, and we see hosting as a great opportunity for cultural exchange and mutual learning.
No prior horse experience is necessary! Your help will be needed in:
Gardening: Helping with planting, weeding, and maintaining our vegetable garden and flower beds.
Light housework & cooking: Preparing lunch together with Julia and the children, as well as helping with small household tasks.
Please note that not all tasks occur daily, but overall, these are the typical jobs throughout the year.
Besides working with the horses, we need help with our vegetable garden, general gardening, weeding, planting, and maintaining flower beds. Additional tasks may include playing with the children, feeding the cats, cleaning the stable and garden, maintaining outdoor furniture, or painting wooden surfaces.Languages

We live on a small, private horse farm, 30 km outside of Hamburg, which we have completely renovated over the past six years. You would stay in our newly built apartment, located on the farm, featuring a private bathroom and a small kitchen for your convenience. The space is modern, bright, and comfortable, providing you with a cozy home during your stay with us.
If we host two Workawayers, we also have a guest room in the main house. The bathroom and kitchen would be shared with Karin. However, she is often away, and the guest room is located on its own floor in the main house, offering a bit of privacy. What else ...
In your free time, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding area!
Hamburg, with its vibrant culture, historic sights, and famous harbor, is just a 30-minute drive away. You can also take public transport to enjoy the city's museums, shopping streets, and nightlife.
If you love the ocean, you can reach the Baltic Sea and its beautiful beaches in 1.5 hours, perfect for relaxing, swimming, or enjoying coastal walks.
For those who enjoy surfing, the North Sea is also about 1.5 hours away and offers great conditions for water sports.
We are happy to help with transport arrangements, and there is also the possibility to use a car for shopping or small trips. Whether you prefer city life, nature, or the seaside, there are many ways to make the most of your time off!A little more information
