    Description

We are a small family cattle ranch, eco-tourism lodge and local conservation hub in the southern Guyanese savannahs. We are starting a capybara rewilding project, we have cattle and a veggie garden, and we work with the South Rupununi Conservation Society on local research and conservation efforts. We have several families with children living and going to school on the ranch and we would like to introduce extra Portuguese and arty lessons for them.
We are quite remote (about 2 1/2 hours from the nearest town on dirt roads), and we are completely off grid. We are 100% solar powered. No phone, but we do have wifi.

We are conservationists, and we are working on research and conservation of giant anteaters, giant armadillos, several bird species, and capybaras. There is a possibility of joining field trips. We have 3 tame capybaras living with us and you can take them swimming every day. We are also tour guides, so we love to share our knowledge of the area. If you want to learn local cuisine, you can join in the kitchen. You can also go horse riding and learn to be a cowboy/girl. Lots of walks, swimming in the lake, birdwatching. You will be able to take opportunities to visit local villages and learn about Indigenous culture.

Looking for someone to teach Portuguese on our amazing small family cattle ranch, eco tourism location, and conservation hub in Guyana. We need a part-time teacher for our 4 English-speaking children (ages 7 - 9), (Brazilian Protuguese preferred) and any interested staff/family members. It would be an asset if you can also teach them any kind of music/art/drama or other creative skills.

We will provide accommodation and food with family and guests in return for about 2-3 hours per day teaching the kids and other family members. You would also need to help out in the house a bit at mealtimes, help with general gardening, or help feed the animals (capybaras, chickens), but other than that you can swim in the lake, play with the tame capybaras, go horse riding with the vaqueros, go for hikes, go birdwatching, even join in local conservation efforts! We have a lovely group of family and friends and we all enjoy socialising. We have national and international guests lots of the year so always new people to meet and talk to. You might be asked to move temporarily into a hammock if our cabins fill up with guests.

We need a fluent Portuguese speaker who also has some other music/art/drama skill he/she can teach in a fun way to children. You have to enjoy the wild outdoors and not be afraid of bugs! You will join our family and can take part in all the things we do in this amazing, wild, part of the world.

My husband speaks OK Brazilian Protuguese. We would be super happy to have a native Portuguese speaker who wants to practice their English with us!

    Accommodation

We have either a private room or hammock space available for you, depending on the time of year. The bedroom would have a bathroom shared with 1 other room. When that is busy, we would ask you to move into a hammock for a few nights.
3 meals a day are served for all the family, staff and guests, so you will be able to join us at the table.
You would be expected to keep your room clean, do your laundry, and help in the kitchen with meals.

We would help you with transportation because this is a difficult place to get to! It can get hot, humid and there are mosquitos around.
