    Description

I am a long time Broome resident, with a lot of local knowledge to share.
I have 3 children and 6 grandchildren none of whom currently live in Broome.
I like warm weather and only go south to visit family and friends.
My favourite holiday is camping under the stars. I love to go bush, and also to visit freshwater country in the Kimberleys.
I would like help in the garden and in the house - doing cleaning and some maintenance work.
I am offering lovely private accommodation, a double bedroom with ensuite, separate lounge/dining and outdoor kitchen.
Occasionally I may need to use the large fridge in the guest accommodation, but I am mindful to always respect people's privacy, and keep it to a minimum. I am also careful to give my guests privacy in their own room with ensuite.
I also ask for privacy for myself in my house, and need my own quiet space, especially early morning and evening.
For that reason, and for my own security, I will only invite workawayers into my space when necessary for work or to share a meal.
I am happy to share an evening meal, and negotiable as to whether food is included in the exchange.
In my experience with workaway, I find a lot of people have specific dietary requirements. Myself I am mostly pescatarian.
As there is an equipped separate kitchen for workawayers to use, I do not always include food as part of the exchange.
I am looking for people who like to do garden work and small jobs around the house.
Experience has also taught me that a 1 week trial is imperative, to ensure both parties are happy with the exchange.
As I have a very busy life in Broome, I require people who are competent to be left alone to get the jobs done.
I volunteer for Environs Kimberley, Kimberley Arts Network, and the Broome Museum, so I am very busy.
As a long time Broome resident, I keep up with what there is to do in the community of Broome, and this I am happy to share with anyone who comes to help me out.
I discourage anyone looking for cheap accommodation, or who equates the hours of workaway they do for me in dollar terms, and compares it to earnings if they worked in Broome. For me, Workaway is a cultural exchange first and foremost.
My house is a short walk from lovely Cable Beach, through Minyirr Park at end of street and over sand dunes.
I am a quiet living person, and am friendly, sociable, and love live music and dancing.
My house and garden are strictly non-smoking.
I look forward to hosting more lovely people in my home.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I am a Broome local with lots of Broome and Kimberley knowledge.
I have lived here for 48 years.

  • Help

    Help

Gardening and home diy projects - trimming trees, pulling weeds, preparing vegie beds.
House maintenance eg cleaning fans, walls, windows etc.
Right now I am really wanting someone who has some woodworking experience, to help fix up some tables in need of care, and also help to fence in an area for chickens.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Self contained rooms at front of house.
You may be asked to share this accommodation with another workawayer (females will NOT be asked to share with males, unless they have come as a couple). Usually this will only be for an overlap of a few days.
Although separate bedrooms, one is used to access the bathroom, the other is used to access the kitchen.
We can discuss the food situation as I am flexible. As people eat at different times, the evening meal is the best one to be shared.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

A short walk to the middle of beautiful Cable Beach.
Plenty to do in Broome, good live music, great yoga teachers.
If you are without a car, bus is about 1km walk away.
I have bikes available for loan.
