  • Description

Offering life / work experience in environmental regeneration, resourceful building and sustainable homesteading on a wildlife sanctuary (part of environmental non-profit ProEco).

Located in the beautiful Noosa Hinterlands of the Sunshine Coast region in Queensland Australia. Rather remote, 50-acre plot near the top of Black Mountain with views of the surrounding volcanic region. Our wondrous place is 1/3 cleared grass/gardens, 1/3 forested timber, and 1/3 rugged native bush. Native regeneration has been underway over 30 years.

We maintain large gardens, varied orchards, a network of hiking trails with an endless varieties of feathered, fury, and scaly creatures -- we enjoy and respect them all! We're looking for volunteers to actively participate who share our ethos of: caring for the land, caring for others, and sharing abundance.

My partner and I are easy-going, middle age guys, well-traveled, multi-lingual who focus on quality of life and try to live each day to the fullest. This includes sharing wholesome meals, camaraderie, and activities that are rewarding yet productive. We stay busy yet enjoy the weather, sunsets, stars, and our nature trails each day. We appreciate variety in cultures, skills perspectives.

Though we work on numerous projects by day -- we welcome creatives, naturalist, and others who enjoy varied activities as we work together or relax. We utilise bio-dynamic, organic, and permaculture practices and are pleased to share and engage visitors keen to participate. Shared wholesome "flexitarian" meals where everyone contributes -- harvest, prep, cook, clean; and comfortable accommodation in a peaceful environment provided. Property has varied forests, hiking trails, creeks, wildlife and many birds -- a real nature paradise! We encourage our helpers to get out and enjoy the area (having your own bike or vehicle is a BIG advantage if you want to explore away from our property).

  • Help

Varied activities including: tending to our large gardens & orchards, hiking trail maintenance, land-care improvements, permaculture implementation, and helping with our shared meals. We are also expanding and developing our WordPress websites if you are an experienced web person.

Over the next few months we plan to: maintain and plant native trees, improve our hiking trails, add more raised garden beds, and build a rocket stove hot water heater/pizza oven. Many of our projects are quite physically demanding so strength, stamina and determination are highly regarded.

Tradespeople, gardeners, builders, musicians, artists, naturalists, bird watchers are most welcome.

As we endeavour to accommodate many visitors, we prefer stays of one-week (may be extended if weather, projects, space, and camaraderie permit). Apologies in advance if you are looking for visa sponsorship as we cannot assist.

We welcome as much help as you're willing to volunteer (averaging half-days) with plenty of time to enjoy the area.
