Alexandre and Matilde came for a short visit and slept overnight in their van. While here they got stuck in with the weeding in my garden and asked if they were not clear what I wanted. They also caught a huge number of snails, lifted yacon and carrots, cleared the asparagus bed and mulched it. They were very friendly and I loved hearing about

I wish you both the very best wishes for your own permaculture project at home in France. It will be exciting to watch it evolve.

Julia was my first workaway host and I am so happy I got to stay with her.
I visited her in May and stayed for a week. Julia and Linda were so lovely and included me into their daily activities and taught me so much. The work in the Garden was very educational and it was fascinating to try out how to eat differently by only using what you grow.

Felix came as a last minute helper. We had a short quick communication and made it happen. He is an exceptional person in so many ways with a huge amount of knowledge on many topics and we had many deep conversations about spirituality, permaculture, personal growth, aquaponics his particular speciality, to name a few. It was very enlivening.
My
… read more main task was to prepare and paint french doors and windows which Felix got right into and knew what he was doing. In the end we put on 4 coats and I'm thrilled with the job. He next tackled my hedge and trimmed the sides and brought the top down to where I wanted it.
Felix's main driving motivation is to learn new knowledge and skills and he is really willing to tackle anything large or small. He mowed the lawns, even sourcing more grass from a neighboring business who were so happy he cut it to provide the green material for our hot compost build. He was one of our team of five and he asked lots of questions to clarify how hot compost is created. Felix cleaned my garden edges and cleared wild overgrown beds.
He also took part in my edible weed workshop to learn all about the value of incorporating 'weeds' into a permaculture garden. He then very generously created a video for me which will be the introduction to my online course, using his cameras and drone. He spent a lot of time editing it. Creating video courses is another major strength he has.
Felix is a very open, caring, loving, generous person who listens really attentively. On top of this Felix is an excellent chef, making delicious, tasty meals.
Felix is strong, communicates clearly is great at problem solving and finding solutions. He was really fun to be with and he would be a fantastic asset on any project.

Ieva came as a last minute work away helper to join Felix another Work away helper and I on projects in the garden. We had a quick correspondence to organise when she would come and as soon as she arrived she dropped her backpacks and got out and helped Felix with hedge cutting. She is incredibly open and willing to do anything and I so
… read more appreciated how she would ask if she could help e.g hanging out the washing and doing dishes. She didn't mind what the task was. Ieva is also a fantastic cook, diving right into my kitchen to create foods that we all enjoyed.
A group of 5 of us made a hot compost in my garden and Ieva was a huge part of bringing material to the site. She is strong and capable and a real pleasure to have on any team. The build was a great learning experience for all of us as my friend used to teach permaculture and how to make hot compost.
Ieva is very good at following instructions and completing them. She weeded edges, helped with cutting a hedge, raking up the trimmings and then taking the materials to the dump (they could not be composted), did some efficient cleaning when I was clear in explaining what I wanted. Ieva has a license and can drive really well on NZ roads and she's a great cook. So overall it was a delight to meet my first ever person from Lithuania and we learned lots more about her life there and travels in great conversation as she is lively and easy to communicate with. I can't recommend her highly enough.
Have so many more wonderful experiences Ieva!!!

I stayed with Julia just for three days - I was a last minute workawayer after my house-sit in Tauranga was cancelled. Moreover, it was my first workaway experience. But what an experience it was! I feel like I left Julia's house with so much more knowledge on gardening and composting (one of the projects we did during those days was making a hot

Julia is easy going. She communicated online very quickly and clearly and she was extremely open and friendly when we finally met. I felt like at home at hers and I am grateful for all I have learned there. Best of luck for you!You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
