Description
Come help establish a self sufficient permaculture farm / gite / spiritual retreat, based in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The farm, which covers 50 acres of woodland and prairie, is now heading into it's 6th year. Last year, with the help of volunteers, we built animal shelters for the 30 sheep and 3 goats, a chicken tractor on steroids, a rocket stove heated greenhouse, Hugle kulture beds, swales and also planted a forest garden.

Help
Our plans for this year are to plant and maintain the gardens, continue the fencing for the parcel grazing, create walking paths and information boards around the farm, as well as everyday jobs of looking after the animals and harvesting/ processing food.
Work is seasonal, but we try to keep it diverse. I am looking for people who would like to improve the environment and who are interested in permaculture.
Minimum stay is 2 weeks. Prefer longer term.Languages spoken

Accommodation is in a cabin with composting toilet and solar shower. Normally we will eat together at lunch, but volunteers organise their own evening meal. There is also a swimming pool and yoga studio on site.
What else ...
The farmhouse was built circa 1800 and is located on a nature reserve, 5kms from Pamiers (with very good local amenities) in the Ariege department of SW France.
The roads nearby have been used by the Tour de France in 2006, 2010. 2014, and 2018. It is a great area for cycling enthusiasts and professionals, walkers, bird watchers, photographers and artists amongst others. Some guests have likened the area to “French Tuscany” and consider St Victor du Fau as a rural idyll and retreat. There is peace, tranquillity and a feeling of calm in the grounds surrounding the farmhouse.A little more information
