Description
Hi there! We are a friendly family living in a newly built two-floor duplex apartment in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. While we are not in the busy downtown area, we are only a 10-minute drive from Hallgrímskirkja Church and the city center. This means you can enjoy the convenience of the capital without the noise and crowds of the tourist zone.
The area around our home is peaceful and scenic. Right outside our doorstep, you’ll find walking trails, a small mountain, and a lake and ocean. perfect for enjoying nature, hiking, or just relaxing in the fresh air. It’s a rare combination of urban accessibility and natural beauty, offering the best of both worlds — ideal for anyone who appreciates both comfort and tranquility.
Our home is on the second floor and has a total area of 154 square meters. It includes four bedrooms and a bright, spacious living room.
Since we have extra space, we would love to welcome open-minded and social travelers to stay with us for free. The house is modern, clean, and filled with natural light. Each room is generously sized and well-designed for comfort and relaxation.
We enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and having good conversations. If you’re respectful, friendly, and like cultural exchange, we think you’ll feel right at home here.

What You Can Expect While Staying with Us:
• Free Accommodation: We provide a private room in our spacious and modern home in Reykjavik, free of charge.
• Cultural Exchange: We hope you can spend time with us engaging in cultural conversations — for example, sharing thoughts on food traditions, daily life, or your home country.
• Language Practice: You’ll have a chance to talk with a Chinese family living in Iceland — we speak basic English and Icelandic, and we’re eager to improve through daily interaction.
• Family Life: We live a fairly traditional lifestyle. From Monday to Friday, our child attends school, and I (along with my mother) stay at home during the day. On weekends, we often go shopping or do outdoor activities — you’re welcome to join us.
• Interaction with Children: Our five-year-old son is very active and friendly. We would love it if you could occasionally play with him, take him to the nearby football field, or simply chat with him in English or Icelandic.
• Local Travel Opportunities: As a social media blogger working in the travel industry, I have access to great travel resources. I can help you explore Reykjavik and other parts of Iceland — sometimes for free or at a discounted price — so you can enjoy Iceland’s incredible nature during your stay.Au Pair Help

Help
We are looking for someone with a kind and open personality who speaks either English or Icelandic. The main purpose of this stay is cultural exchange — we would love to have daily conversations and share experiences.
I’m originally from China Shanghai and have been living and working in Iceland for a long time. I also work as a social media content creator, sharing my life and travel experiences. My English and Icelandic are still improving, so I hope to practice and learn more through interaction. At home, we usually speak in Chinese, while at school my son communicates in Icelandic. We would love to have someone who can interact with him in either English or Icelandic, to help him grow in a multilingual environment and develop confidence in expressing himself.
Currently, our family includes my husband, my mother, and my five-year-old son. We especially welcome someone who enjoys spending time with children. We’re looking for someone who can kindly support us with small daily tasks around the home. Nothing heavy — just light help such as:
• Helping with basic household chores (e.g. tidying up shared spaces, keeping things clean)
• Preparing simple meals for our child when needed
• Spending time with our son — talking with him, playing, or keeping him company while he watches cartoons
• Helping with school drop-offs and pick-ups, if your schedule allows
This is not a formal job, just part of our family-style living and cultural exchange. We truly appreciate your support and care, and in return we’ll do our best to make your stay comfortable, warm, and memorable.Languages

Our Family and Daily Life
Our family is friendly, easygoing, and lives a simple lifestyle. We try to maintain a peaceful and respectful atmosphere at home. Our five-year-old son goes to school and usually sleeps before 9:00 PM and wakes up around 7:00 AM. The rest of the family — my husband, my mother, and I — generally follow his schedule as well.
My mother spends most of her time doing light outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, and exercising in the neighborhood. I work both from home and outside, splitting my time roughly 50/50 between online work and in-person jobs. So some days I’m at home, and other days I may be out for work.
We’d also like to share that our little boy is very active and sometimes a bit playful. He usually takes a nap during the day, but like many five-year-old boys, he can be noisy at times — playing, laughing, or running around the house. He also enjoys watching TV occasionally.
We hope you can understand and feel comfortable around children. We believe these little moments are part of a warm and lively home, and we always do our best to maintain a respectful and balanced atmosphere for everyone.
Overall, our lifestyle is calm and predictable. We don’t have strict demands — we just hope for someone who is respectful and enjoys being part of a peaceful household. If you have days off or want to explore Reykjavik or go shopping, it’s very convenient. There is a bus stop right outside our home, and most places in the city are just 10–15 minutes away by public transport.A little more information
