    Description

Sorry to say, but we are not aliens. We are happy to point you to the right places in Roswell so you might be able to see some especially downtown.

If you want to come visit this interesting place, we would love to have to stay with us. It is always great getting to know other people to learn about their cultures and traditions. We have hosted many people through Couchsurfing and have had very positive experiences. Some of my friends were guests in our home first. Creating a bond is the best part of hosting others. I'd love to share my culture and traditions. If you are lucky, I might be able to make some of my homemade banana bread or beer bread, depending if I have some bananas or beer available. It would be wonderful if you as our guest would prepare a meal for us. I would supply the ingedients.

We live in modest, ranch-style home outside of the city limits on five acres. It is very quiet here except for the occasional dogs barking. We do have two dogs that normally stay outside and four cats that stay indoor. So, if you are looking for a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life, our home would fit you perfectly. The night sky is pretty spectacular, too.

Normally guests cannot stay at our home while we are gone. Roswell offers a lot of places to visit. I would be happy to drop off people in Roswell if I am going to be out. I do need a little help with our yard including a couple of gardens if you enjoy getting a bit of sun. Roswell can be very hot, but as the fall months approach, it is much better to spend time outside. We could use some help with some small tasks in the home and spending some time with our two dogs. I would not want anyone to help us more than a few hours a day. There is too much to do in and around town that should be explored.

Roswell is an interesting place for anyone who is into UFOs, aliens, rocket science, beautiful night skies, and a bit of culture. There are many different places to see while you are staying in Roswell. There are the UFO Museum (of course), Anderson Museum, local zoo, Bottomless Lakes State Park, Bitter Lake National Refuge, and a cute downtown that features lovely tourist shops and a spaceship McDonald's.

I met my husband, Rick, in Roswell and never moved away. Rick and I have been married for 37 years and have two grown sons. The oldest son lives in Tennessee and the youngest lives in Colorado.

I am happily retired from teaching and am truly enjoying it. I am a Teacher Liaison for the Space Foundation so I volunteer in classrooms to share my expertise. I teach middle school science at a local private school and tutor students at the military institute. I am the president of the Roswell Astronomy Club, so I stay a little busy with that club. My favorite pastime is traveling. I visited all 50 states which was my goal. I have also been to many countries in Europe and traveled to Brazil and Australia. Egypt is my next destination. Taking photos is one of my passions, too. My memories are put in scrapbooks.. I also enjoy baking, organizing, and visiting with friends and family. Rick and I like watching movies at home and spending time together.

There is no public transportation that comes out to our home, but there is a bus in town. When people visit, they either stay in my oldest son's room or in the family room. We can provide the bedding and a warm place to stay.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I enjoy having visitors and love to hear about our cultures and ways of life. I hope that anyone who travels here feels comfortable. Since I am a retired teacher, I am able to teach the travelers different subjects, if need be. I was an exchange student in Salamanca, Spain, so I can use my Spanish when I need to. Grant it, my Spanish is not as good as it used to be. We also had a few exchange students stay with us, so I understand the language barrier and can be very patient with communication. Those who stay here are able to watch movies and relax from the hustle and bustle of city life. I can take out my telescope and show them the planets, stars, etc. I can also teach my visitors how to scrapbook.

    Help

Our home needs a little TLC. As an example, dusting is always needed since we live in an area of New Mexico where the wind blows often. Our yard needs some help with the weeds and in the garden. There are other small tasks that need to be done. I travel periodically and my schedule may be a bit too crazy to host someone, but please inquire in case I am able to when you plan to be in Roswell.

I studied in Spain many years ago, so my Spanish is weak. I would love to brush up on it.

    Accommodation

My visitors will be able to sleep in our guest room which has two twin beds. The bathroom is right across the hall. There is also the family room which has a comfortable sofa. We have an air mattress and sleep pads, as well.
As far as meals are concerned, if you are in my home when we are eating breakfast, lunch or dinner, we will share our meal with you. If you are checking out the sites in Roswell, or traveling to White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, or other cool tourist attractions, you will be buying your own meals since I won't provide you with sack lunches. You could also cook/bake for us. I'll be happy to buy the ingredients for the meals you prepare and share with my husband and me.

Roswell, New Mexico is an interesting place for anyone who is into UFO, rocket science, beautiful night skies, and a bit of culture. There are the UFO Museum (of course), Anderson Museum, local zoo, Bottomless Lakes State Park, Bitter Lake National Refuge, and a cute downtown that features lovely tourist shops and a spaceship McDonald's. There is a city bus, but it does not pick people up from our home since we live in the country. We do have an airport that provides flights to Dallas. Greyhound does service Roswell but getting here can take many hours depending on your starting location. The restaurants are good, and we have a nice library. I can provide WiFi. One final note, if your do not have any references, please have your profile as complete as possible. It helps to get to know the person before accepting them into our home.
