  • Description

With 2100 acres nestled against the Ochoco NF, our Ranch is a family-owned working guest ranch. Scenic meadows, managed forest lands and rock vistas make up the landscape. Enjoy the slow-paced country lifestyle, with an opportunity to get your hands dirty helping with various ranch chores. When it's time for relaxation, grab a good book taking in the scent of Ponderosa and Juniper, or just enjoy gazing into the endless, star-filled night sky.

Activities on the ranch include birdwatching, hiking, photography, mountain biking, wildlife observation, and hunting (limited - ask for details). Prineville features two nearby reservoirs and the local Crooked River for abundant fishing and water recreation opportunities.

Owner/operators Mary and Roy are part-time cattle ranchers and full time timber managers and guest services. We raise Chianina-Black Angus cattle for private sale of all-natural grass-fed beef. We raise meadow grass hay on 100 acres by the beautiful McKay Creek in early to mid-summer, employing flood and sprinkle irrigation. New to 2018, we are constructing a high tunnel greenhouse and will be growing berries and vegetables for commercial sales and markets, also we have a tiny home that we are finishing for vacation rental.

Our goal is to operate as a full-time working guest ranch. Mary volunteers her talents cooking for a shelter in town, and she is a highly acclaimed chef among her many friends and family members. Her passion for wine and food inspired the name of the ranch itself, and her warm heart and hearth provide for a great home and gathering place.

The ranch is home to five horses, three dogs and 2 cats and cattle.

Staple foods will be provided weekly based on volunteer requests, and hosts will provide one full "family-style" dinner per week to share among volunteers and neighbors.
