    Salutare!

I'm Andra, an artist and nature lover, full time traveler for the past 6ish years. I have decided to stay awhile in my home country after 23 years abroad, looking after this quirky home in a small village, that was my grandparents' and my father's nature getaway and is dear to me. This summer I would love to open this space up again to receive genuine people, i love to meet people from different places and cultures.

Over the past years I realised I don't want to live in the city any longer and my lifestyle has radically changed, I've spent time in communities and in nature a lot. I lived in Australia and New Zealand for more than half of my life and have also recently fallen in love with South America, having spent quite a bit of time there lately (mostly Colombia).

I warmly welcome the opportunity to share info about this region, to teach you what I know, to offer a space where you can move at a slower pace and reap the benefits of being in nature and fresh air in a place that seems from a different time.

There are wonderful hikes, rivers and mountains to explore close-by, as well as Salina Turda, and some unique saltlakes. Cheile Turzii are very close. And culture & architecture around Cluj, Sibiu, Sighisoara & Brasov as well.

This is a place to slow down, connect with nature, to make art & music if you feel like it.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

It is an opportunity to learn about the area, there is so much tradition and culture and various places to see close-by. Also an opportunity to practice Romanian (or Spanish or English), to discover a simpler way of life in a small and relaxed Romanian village, a quiet getaway from the busyness of the city. Turda city is 30 minutes away, and Cluj is about 1 hour away.
It is an opportunity to learn different styles of painting (I am a professional artist and happy to share), also you can learn how to make beeswax candles and some natural creams and products.

If you ride motorcycles you are welcome to use mine to get around. If you like making music I have a handpan you are welcome to use :)

  • Help

    Help

This summer I will be renovating, mainly redoing some of the walls that have been affected by humidity, so this is one main focus. You could also be helping me around the garden, some tidying up and general maintenance.

If you are down to earth, love nature, are a hands-on kind of person, have initiative, and enjoy genuine connection we would likely get along.

Ideally looking for people who have some applied knowledge of permaculture/syntropics, construction, cob & bioconstruction, carpentry, natural medicine, arts & music, crafts, traditional ways... There is a bit to be done here, but without rushing and in a way that is enjoyable.

Love learning languages, and would be so happy to speak more Spanish, perhaps learn some Greek... but other languages are great too! I am also happy to teach you the languages that I speak.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will have your own spacious private room upstairs.
I will provide breakfast and dinner, as well as coffee, tea, and some snacks. This will be predominantly vegetarian and where possible organic and locally sourced.
You have full access to the kitchen and are welcome to cook whatever you like. There is a BBQ outside that can be used also (for meat this is great as I prefer no meat cooked inside the house).
