If you don´t speak theese idioms, use Google translate. Because if you send it in English she will answer "I don´t understand". So it is easier for you and for her. Thanks!
And don´t worry, once you are in the Foundation it is very possible there are more volunteers who can translate English - spanish. And also Gloria is very comunicative and will try to teach you spanish. And... everybody speak hands idiom! :)
- This is not a party place, we don´t drink alcohol or smoke in the Foundation, as we need to be focus in the animals every moment because they are around 55 dogs and 80 cats so you can imagine how much work it is, but it is also a lot of fun being with them. We don´t have Wifi at the Foundation, the nearest Wifi spot is at the village park, 15 minuts walking.-
- Helping days start at 5:30 to everybody, the work associated with running an animal sanctuary can be very unpredictable and animals can require care at any time of the day. Sometimes animals requiere atention until late in the day or even at night for example very small kittens or puppies, ill dogs and cats. -
Hello friends around the Earth!
IF YOU LOVE ANIMALS, YOU ARE WELCOME.
IF YOU HAVE LOVE TO GIVE, YOU ARE WELCOME.
IF YOU WANT TO RECEIVE LOVE FROM ANIMALS, YOU ARE WELCOME.
IF YOU ARE HAPPY ABOUTH SHARING SPACE AND TIME WITH A LOT OF DOGS AND CATS, YOU ARE WELCOME.
WE ARE WAITING FOR YOU WITH OPEN ARMS!
We are a Fundaciòn , our objective is to correspond to nature, animals and human beings with respect and a new consciousness of the evolving planet.
We welcome and help abandoned dogs and cats, feeding them organically and healing them with local plants.
We also help children and elderly people with needs in different projects.
Author of the project: Gloria:
"Eight years ago I came to spend a vacation to Campoalegre Huila./ Colombia. My heart was throbbing with the beautiful memories of early childhood and the severe contrasts of the current campoalegruna community (disagreement with the harmonious development of Life!).
The great difficulty children have to grow and the violence towards them and other beings has made me still find myself here between these realities of human contamination and great hope for positive changes through which we have been created all living beings!".

Campoalegre is a typical village in Colombia, where you can learn about the country life of the province of Huila, capital of rice, where you can visit rivers, mountains, observe flora and fauna, eat typical dishes, visit other nearby villages and make friends on the spot To know Colombian peasant traditions.
You can exchange knowledge in our Eco farm projetc, participate in educational program for children and learn about Colombian culture.
We are a Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organisation who welcome: VETERINARIANS, CONSTRUCTORS, pedagogues, agronomists, administrators, students and animal lovers who can help us in the organization of the organic crops, management of the animals and help with the evolvement of our foundation.
Currently we are specially looking for volunteers with the following skills/motivations:
. Genuine animal and nature lovers to help us with our 113 cats and 59 dogs. We ask for serious, dedicated, fun and hard-working helpers. Tasks include animal feeding, cleaning and medication administration! Furthermore, when possible take some of the dogs for walks and of course give them love!
. Volunteers with knowledge of electricity, as we have had several issues recently with power failure, which affects critically the routines at the foundation.
. Volunteers interested in natural building, as we have a new house, that will be used in the future to keep the more fragile animals away from the others that needs to be completed, as well a lot of cages in need of some fixing!
.Volunteers with agriculture and horticulture knowledge. We have a wide variety of exotic plants, fruits and vegetable plantations which we use for our food, medicine and way of life!
. VETERINARIANS AND VET STUDENTS are more than welcome!
Most of the times we can't afford to send animals to a veterinarian due to our economic limitations! Therefore we try to take advantage of the rich natural resources and the local knowledge on plant medicine to treat animals. But sometimes treatments are not efficient, and veterinarian care is critical to save an animal! Only with donations from supporters we can sometimes get a proper diagnose, and give the appropriate treatment!
We are currently implementing several prevention actions to reduce the risk of animals to get diseases, and someone with that knowledge would also be of great help.
•People to create ecological and educational projects in respect with nature with children and local people. ENGLISH TEACHERS for children from the village and from a rural community.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE understand that our foundation depends on volunteering help and we can only accept volunteers who are serious and genuine about learning, supporting us and receiving loads of cuddles from our furry friends!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW:
If you want to contribute for changing the awareness about animal care, you will be very inspired here where a lot is done with very little means. Each volunteer can contribute with important improvements, and feel that this is as well your shelter! Contact us if our description calls you!
We also strive to live as self sustainably as possible in the sanctuary. This is a complicated path to follow, but we are trying our best to do so through the implementation of permaculture, using natural home-made soaps, using natural medicines, purchasing as little plastic as possible and recycling (which are just some examples and we are always open to new ideas). We ask that anyone applying is of a similar mind set and are willing to adapt to our way of live in the foundation.
Helping days start at 5:30 to everybody, the work associated with running an animal sanctuary can be very unpredictable and animals can require care at any time of the day. Sometimes animals requiere atention until late in the day or even at night for example very small kittens or puppies, ill dogs and cats.
We need volunteers who are passionate about animal welfare and are not just visiting the sanctuary as part of their vacations. The work can be very tiring, but ultimately it is extremely rewarding; potential volunteers must bare this in mind when applying to work at our sanctuary.
We prefer helpers that can spend a minimum of three weeks with us.
As we are no profit organization, we rely entirely on donations as well as the help of our volunteers. Without all of them this place would not exist anymore. As we constantly struggle financially to pay for everything that is necessary to keep the foundation running we kindly ask our volunteers for a small contribution for our daily expenses. There is no set amount and this is completely voluntarily just whatever you feel you are able and happily willing to give.
Please WRITE TO US with specific DATES you would like to visit us and please inform us anticipated if you change your plans in order to offer a place to others.
ITALIAN-FRENCH-SPANISH (NO ENGLISH!!)
-WHAT WE OFFER: Accommodation and VEGAN food. Apart from some of the meat use to feed the animals, we are a strictly meat free sanctuary. Thus if you are not vegan or vegetarian you must be able to adapt to our diet whilst staying at the sanctuary. Nutritious Vegan food and natural juices are provided at the shelter for all volunteers, however you need to know that we haven’t been able to create a space at the shelter completely free of animals, so you need to be aware, that food can sometimes have animal hairs!
-DORMITORIES: Small but comfortable rooms in a maloca house. Dorm rooms range from 1-3 beds in traditional maloca houses. The rooms simple with only beds (in the roof top room just mattresses), but enough room for all of your belongings. Please note that the dogs and cats tend to make noise in the morning so be sure to pack earplugs if you're a light sleeper!
-THE SCHEDULE JOB IS COMPULSORY for all volunteers starting activities at 6/7am in order to follow the right organization of our job. We require volunteers with a passion for animal welfare, who are willing to go the extra mile to look after our animals when they are in need of care.
