Andrew showed and explained me everything, even twice if necessary. In the morning we had each our breakfast, then I went for a short walk with freddy and after that we started our daily journey. I loved to steer the boat, to throw the ropes and to flote slowly across the canals of France and Belgium. It was a very slow trip and I had plenty of
… read more time to just sit, think and enjoy the passing landscape. Andrew is a pleasent and calm traveling companion and we had lots of nice talks about various topics.
I had my own little room and went to the supermarket twice to buy all the food I needed. Andrew made sure that I was comfortable and he also involved me in the planning of the trip.
When we weren`t t sailing, I had time for myself and often went for walks (mostly with freddy, he`s always very happy to go for a stroll.)
It was a wonderful experience and I would do it again. Life on a boat and canal isn`t easy to find and it`s definitly worth to experiance :D Thank you Andrew :)You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Salome arrived exactly when she said she would, she was an impeccable guest to have on board my ship. She was diligent, caring, careful and intelligent. I could not have wished for a better companion on our journey.
We travelled together for five days and she learned to steer the ship, use the ropes for mooring and passing through the locks and

First I would like to thank Andrew for such experience and his great patience!! He is very kind and intelligent man from whom I've learned a lot, of a life on boat; throwing ropes; steering; sailing; cooking and lastly some wisdom that he shared with me! He is very interesting person to be around, as he has a huge life experience and always has a

Overall he is one of the kindest and generous souls I've met in my life!! And please if you do say you would be joining him, then do and not cancel!! As this experience is priceless!!Left by host for Workawayer (Aisara)
Aisara came and helped me move my ship from Belgium to Dunkerque in France. It was a long and sometimes difficult journey and she did struggle to master aspects of the handling of the ship...rope throwing and mastery of the steering were difficult for her...but she kept on trying and eventually we sorted ourselves out and got along very well. She

Ruben didn't stay long and left rather suddenly...but he did complete the task I set him, doing some very basic carpentry. I'm not sure if he had done much of that sort of thing before, if at all....but he was conscientious in his work and did quite well. Communication however was difficult. He spoke little English and I no Spanish....so that

Rob was fine to have around and we got along pretty well. He spent his time doing a laborious task grouting tiles, and did well. He also did some painting work which was also fine. He cooked, kept the place clean without being asked and generally was an excellent workaway person.

John came with his friend Ping, and they stayed a couple of weeks. John helped me to paint my barge on the outside and Ping did some much needed deep cleaning on the inside. Both extremely helpful. Ping's Chinese cooking was really nice....John's help was invaluable with the paint and later he spent a week helping me navigate the barge through
