Hello! Cameron here (american guy) took over a lodge six years ago in the mountains of Northern Malawi, overlooking the Lake, 5k from historic Livingstonia. Together with the amazing village of Mantchewe, we've created a special place known throughout East Africa. We are now looking for new volunteers to help make a funky new website documneting the creation of our newly formed NGO and coffee cooperative!
Our lodge is unique in many ways: it's built into the side of a cliff (plenty of hammocks!); it operates completely off the grid (solar, gravity-fed spring water, compost toilets, etc.); it's active with community projects. it's in a perfect spot for outdoor enthusiasts (close to Malawi's tallest waterfall and a fantastic outlook plateau); and it offers a warm vibe for travelers.

-is eco-minded and can easily live off the grid;
-will enjoy living in an outdoor, physically demanding environment;
-has own computer and camera and training in website and social media documentation
Room and board are exchanged for your time as volunteers.
Volunteer accommodation include a large canvas safari tent and a cliff-side tree-house with shared bathroom facilities – hot water and lovely views from the toilets! We offer a shared kitchen and meals available through our restaurant.
The mountains of Northern Malawi are a playground for outdoor enthusiasts-- hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, etc. The sleepy town of Livingstonia, 5 km away, offers an insight to the historic Scottish settlement in the area and is now home to Livingstonia University. There are also many opportunities for community volunteering-- teaching at the local primary school, sharing healthcare knowledge, working alongside the established women's group in the area, or any other project you would like to develop!
There are many villages and small towns located close to the lodge. The closest city is Mzuzu, about 3 hours away on public transport.
We are a social enterprise and nothing has been more important to us than getting to know the local community and enjoying the welcoming hospitality Malawi has to offer. We'd be looking for somebody who would share our outlook!
