Description
Join our seaside eco-camp to garden, cook, clean & create — nature-loving workers welcome!
Hi,
My name is Cengizhan. I'm a computer engineer by training, but I’ve now fully returned to my village to focus on the Ecological Farm — my true calling. It’s located in Yaykıl village, Gerze, Sinop, just 110 meters from the Black Sea.
I live on a beautiful piece of land with six guest rooms and a large garden for natural farming. I have two children who now live in the Netherlands, and I visit them as often as I can.
I enjoy sharing my knowledge, especially about sports like mountaineering and Shotokan karate kata, which I’ve practiced for many years. I also love talking about Turkish culture, everyday life, and history — and I’m just as eager to hear about your culture and your stories.
So, what do we do here?
I rent out the rooms in our guesthouse, and throughout the year there are always things to do: gardening, harvesting, natural food production, cleaning, and occasionally helping with our guests’ needs.
We don’t use chemicals or synthetic fertilizers — our practices are rooted in permaculture principles and traditional, natural farming methods.
This year, we’ve slowed down our agricultural work slightly — just for one season.
While we still keep a garden, it’s smaller compared to previous years. That’s because we’re currently building a restaurant and a cultural house, which has become our main focus for the season.
We’re especially excited because once the cultural house is complete, it will become a space for science and art camps, performing arts, and yoga retreats — a dream we’ve been working towards for a long time.
This year is a year of growth for us, and we’re excited to welcome new volunteers to be part of this adventure.
Looking forward to meeting you!
Warm regards,

My partner Didem and I really enjoy sharing our culture. We love talking about local traditions, regional food, everyday life in our community, and even how people behave in different situations.
I (Cengizhan) also have a strong interest in history, regional customs, and sports, and I’m always happy to have deep conversations around these topics.
For those interested in martial arts, I’d be glad to teach Shotokan kata (if you're unfamiliar, just Google "karate Shotokan kata"). It’s a great way to connect body and mind, and share something truly unique.Projects involving children

Help
Being a volunteer here means becoming part of a life intertwined with nature. We ask our volunteers to support us in the following areas:
Watering and weeding in our vegetable garden where we grow tomatoes, peppers, and other produce, as well as helping with harvesting and preserving,
Routine cleaning duties in our small guesthouse,
Assisting with food preparation and kitchen cleaning in our restaurant,
Helping care for our resident dogs and cats,
Spending quality time with children—both guests and those living at the camp.
Please note: Volunteers are not expected to handle all of these tasks at once. Instead, we guide each volunteer daily depending on the current needs of the camp. Your role may vary from day to day—sometimes in the garden, sometimes in the kitchen, or wherever support is most needed.
We usually host two volunteers at a time, so the experience stays personal, balanced, and community-focused.
We provide all necessary tools, work clothes, and gloves. We ask for approximately 6 hours of support per day, with 2 days off each week.
And yes, we are truly fun people! Spending relaxed and joyful evenings together is part of our core spirit.
We dig soil by day, and stories by night.Languages

Accommodation is typically in tents equipped with a proper bed, pillow, and all essential items. Bathroom and toilet facilities are available.
However, tent accommodation is only available between June 15 and August 30.
Before June 15, since the summer tourism season has not yet started, we are able to offer volunteers rooms in our guesthouse instead.
When it comes to meals, we usually eat two meals a day together. However, we understand that many people prefer three meals a day, so we provide ingredients and kitchen access for volunteers who wish to prepare their own lunch.A little more information
