Our cultural center focused on experimentation and artistic production that rises up in the southern Sardinian countryside. The project was born in 2012 with the idea of creating a shared place of contamination between different creative personalities; a reference point for the community and a driving force for languages and expressions that range between art, design, music, cuisine and sustainable agriculture.
The activities are developed within three abandoned warehouses owned by a local farm that has been operating in the poultry sector for forty years. The main objective of the project is to redevelop the territory in which is immersed: 16 hectares of pure countryside where the landscape overlooks the plains and hills, cultivated fields and short waterways.
It is aimed at a varied and heterogeneous public united by the need and desire of taking part to social and cultural experiences in a natural environment. During its five years of activity, from 2012 to 2017, the center has organized many different initiatives, in collaboration with institutions like local public bodies, cultural associations, private companies, collectives, artists, artisans and designers.

The greatest strenght of our placeis the cozy, convivial and enthusiastic atmosphere, characterized by a great desire to get involved and to face new challenges. The ability to discuss and solve problems working as a team are the elements that distinguish our reality and that have led us so far, giving a substantial boost to the project. Each guest will have the opportunity to get in touch both with an international network and at the same time with the culture of the place, in close contact with natural elements and local custom. It will also be possible to visit the most important and representative places of the local tradition to discover its identity and enjoy the beauty of the coasts and the hinterland.
The warehouses, following a period of inactivity, need some structural renovation before their re-opening, that is expected to be in June 2020. Hence, we are looking for eclectic and creative people ready to take new challenges and experience and to share common spaces.
We are specifically looking for help in the following fields:
- Maintenance of the green areas: the main work will be to set up, fix and maintain the green areas, the trees, the fields and the farm garden. The guests will be asked to take care of planting, pruning, cultivate and dispose of the waste. A basic knowledge of the main cultivation techniques and the correct use of the specific equipment and machinery would be a plus, but it is not necessary.
- Restoration of the indoor areas: this task consists in the clearance, the rearrangement and the design of the three warehouses. Especially we will need to differentiate and dispose of the previously deposited material, to paint the walls and subsequently, to reorganize and clean the spaces. Once the areas will be restored and rearranged, we will focus on the final design of the art space, the agritourism and the co-working area.
We will take care of providing all the workawayers with adequate assistance and the necessary bases to better face any task, allowing them to experience work fields they never explored before. We will also supply everything they need to work: materials, tools and workwear.
The candidate can apply for one or more tasks, depending on one’s skills and preferences. We are not looking for professionals, instead we would like to host people that want to live an adventure and want to work alongside other people, creating a sharing atmosphere and getting involved in new experiences. We require 4 hours shifts for 5 days a week, to agree based on one’s needs and preferences, with 2 days off. The minimum length of the stay is one week up to the maximum of one month.
We offer food and lodging for the entire period of stay in a house near the workplace. The residence has two bedrooms so articulated: one double, available for one person or for a couple, and a triple / quadruple room to share with the other guests, two bathrooms complete with all services, an equipped kitchen and a common area where you can relax, or work on your projects. The house also has a wifi connection that can be used by all guests and a large garden, strong point of the house, which overlooks the panorama of Ussana and the surrounding countryside. We will provide all guests with clean sheets and towels; breakfast and a meal between lunch or dinner are guaranteed, based on individual preferences - in any case, all the agri-food products grown locally will be made available to all the guests.
Our place is three kilometers away from the nearest residential areas - Ussana and Monastir - both reachable by foot in about 15 minutes. In any case, all the necessary movements will be guaranteed by the team members, available for any need of the guests. Furthermore, we speak Italian, English and Spanish.
It is located in the municipality of Ussana, a center of 4000 inhabitants in the province of Cagliari, in southern Sardinia. The municipality together with three neighboring centers constitute the Parteolla territory. The area is characterized by a great variety of landscapes and the town is located on a wide plain surrounded by some hills, including Mount Zara, Mount Agutzu and Mount Assorgia. The economy is mainly based on agriculture and pastoralism, with widespread production of cheeses, oils and wines. We recommend to visit the church of San Sebastiano Martire and the numerous archaeological finds around the area.
