Hi there, how are you doing?
We would like to present ourselves and our hostel to you! Our team consists of
Yohannes, our youngest team member and righteous boss of our hostel,
Ivan, Yohannes’ dad, who looks after his son’s legacy until he is ready to fill his shoes, and
Miriam, Yohannes’ mum!
Our hostel is situated next to one of the 25 most beautiful beaches of Europe (according to National Geographic) in the small town of Poo de Llanes. We are a small family business with guests from all over the world.
People come to us to sleep, to eat (we also have a coffee- and food service), and to enjoy our natural environment between the Atlantic Sea and the mountains Picos de Europa. Many of our guests are pilgrims, doing the Northern Camino de Santiago. Some of them are tourists interested in the rich Asturian culture, history, and food. Some come to hike in the mountains or do water sports like swimming, kayaking and surfing. We are very children-friendly and have many families who come to spend a few days in our hostel or a few hours in our garden, the parents enjoying their coffee, the children playing.
We feel privileged to be able to enjoy, day by day, the enriching atmosphere created by the diversity of our guests and the nature that surrounds us. Yohannes is a happy, loving boy, growing up bilingually (Spanish and German), playing in our big garden, eating our homegrown vegetables and fruit, and getting to know different people every day.

Help around the house
There are quite a few things you will be able to enjoy while being with us:
-The happiness our little Yohannes will surely give you with his sunny nature
-Meeting people and making friends from all over the world and getting to know many different lifestyles
-Getting to know the culture of northern Spain
-Nature: The Atlantic Sea, the mountain range and National Park Picos de Europa, the coastline with its cliffs, beaches and animals...
If you are motivated to learn Spanish (or German), we are very open for a language exchange and eager to help you improve your language skills!
We are looking for help with our little sunshine Yohannes. Your work will basically consist of spending time with him and looking after him in the hostel and surroundings, playing, eating together, and going for walks in the enchanting little town and along the coast. Yohannes spends a lot of time in our hostel because we want him to benefit from the international atmosphere (and our big garden) there, which you will be able to enjoy while you look after him.
We won't ask you to help us with the hostel, so you will be able to enjoy living there without any obligations other than helping with Yohannes. However, we will ask you to keep the areas of the house you use clean and tidy as if you were at home (your own room and the bathroom you use). Our work offer is 24 hours per week, distributed according to the specific moment of the year and depending on the time Yohannes spends in kindergarten. You will have a lot of free time to make friends among our guests, go surfing and lie on the beach, and do things you enjoy in the natural environment that surrounds us.
The most important traits we are looking for in our workayawers are
-Responsibility (there is no bigger responsibility than looking after a child)
-Flexibility (we improvise a lot and are open to adapting to your wishes, expectations, and ideas) and
-Independence (we want you to enjoy your free time and benefit from our cultural exchange setting your own priorities).
We live according to what we believe is the natural cycle of the year: In spring and summer, while our hostel is open, we enjoy being active and working with our guests, and in fall and winter we retreat to relax, study, and spend time at home with our family. We equally enjoy these two significant periods and are looking for workawayers who are looking for the same rhythm.
Our hostel is usually open between mid-March and mid-October, so this is the time you will share the house with our guests.
You will be staying in our hostel with similar conditions to our guests. When there are no guests you will have plenty of room to yourself and when we open you might share your room, bathrooms and kitchen with our guests.
You can get almost anywhere, be it the Picos de Europa or the bigger cities like Oviedo or Santander, by public transport. The best option is the bus but there is also a train, and both of them stop in the town of Poo, where we are located.
