    Description

We are to be established as a supportive refuge for self discovery and healing through a deep connection with nature.

Set amongst the majestic limestone formations and sacred underground passageways of Waipu Caves, the property rests on 14 hectares of native bush and pasture. The huge limestone cave system covers some four square kilometres and is home to millions of glow worms adorning the cavernous ceilings and freshwater koura in the chilly pools below.

A retreat centre, an arboretum and an outdoor experiential learning centre are to be established on the site. The Lodge will be home to a place where people will come as "disciples" of the trees in order to understand themselves and enter into a multidimensional and reciprocal learning process.

Our project is just beginning. Right now there is nothing on the land except the trees, the grass and the birds. This summer we will start making our dream a reality - and we need skilled help.

We are setting this property up from scratch. You will have a great opportunity to gain all sorts of very practical skills including building, gardening, vegetarian/vegan cooking, fencing and track making. We set out to have a lot of fun!

    Help

You will be helping us build a base camp including a kitchen, shower and compost toilet. Other tasks you will be involved with include: moving a small cottage onto the property, setting up a water system, planting gardens, setting up a solar power system and build some small cabins.

This is a great opportunity to learn new skills. Alistair has hosted many working holiday travelers over the years and has lots of skills to share.

We look forward to meeting you.

    Accommodation

You will enjoy the Northland summer staying in a large, well appointed “glamping” style tent with a good mattress and a little furniture. The nearby camp HQ will have power for charging devices, limited internet (it's cell based), hot water showers and compost toilet.

Healthy vegetarian food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We will share the cooking. Please bring your own snacks, super foods and personal dietary requirements.

This is a magical place with caves and walks close by and beaches a short drive away and lots to explore. It is good to have your own car to get out and about. We are 13km from the nearest shop at Waipu township. It's another 10km or so for surfing. Whangarei is the nearest city 19km away.
