  • Description

Greetings from Tibet! We are from Lithang, which is situated in the eastern part of Tibet, China. Lying at the edge of a vast grassland valley, Litang is a historic town at an altitude of around 4,014 meters above sea level, even higher than Lhasa, which is why it is even known as a ‘town up in the air’. We are nomads and have been practicing animal husbandry for centuries.

We recently purchased an old house that will serve as a home base and workshop for our community project which grew up to become a social enterprise called "Kadhak Organics", which features all natural handmade home and beauty products. The house is critical to our cultural heritage, as its one of the only ones left in its original state in this area. We are determined to restore and continue to preserve it, as well as update it in order to grow our community-based business.

You can experience an authentic nomadic lifestyle in a beautiful highland. You can do meditation in the ancient monastery. You can ride horse in the vast grassland. You can do hiking. You can enjoy the natural hot spring. Most importantly you will experience our culture and tradition in a most meaningful way through being a volunteer and member of our project.

The Tibetan gun is typically a smoothbore matchlock, its most characteristic feature are the "gun horns", a bipod to help to stabilize the aim from foot. They were used from horseback as well as from foot, and contests with mounted musketry have been recorded from as early as the late 17th century all the way to the early 20th century.
