Hi my name is Bridget and I live in a wonderful old stone Bastide in the mountains behind Nice with my dog and five cats - I enjoy both the view of the sea and the view of the mountains.

Originally from the U.K. I moved to France 3 years ago in search of a more zen lifestyle, leaving behind the glitzy but superficial world of fashion for a more meaningful and relaxing way of life.

The Bastide has a beautiful calm energy and was originally the old Olivier and if rumour be true, part of the original building was an ancient Croft used by the Templars. The olive grove now incorporates the garden and it is in need of a lot of help because it was neglected for many years.

In the U.K. I had a small Victorian garden so it would be fair to say that since I have been in France I have become a huge google gardener! I like to push the boundaries of what will grow here and enjoy being creative with colour. My French is not great although I am learning and the people here are predominately multi lingual which actually doesn’t help me at all with my French! Tourrettes sur Loup is an easy 10 minute walk from the house and is an ancient medieval walled village set, like many, on the edge of a cliff. The village embraces its history and provides weekly cultural and music events and markets throughout the year.

I need assistance with the general maintenance of the garden, grass cutting and weeding, but also some hardcore gardening such as replacing the old fence with new, trimming some of the hedges and olive trees and cutting back wild plants. It might be fun to be creative and make some new seating areas or an arbour. Some general help within the house - cleaning and tidying up and maybe once in a while help with the cooking. All the furries would welcome some attention, with Maine Coon cats there is always someone that needs a brush!

    Accommodation

Accommodation is your own bedroom with ensuite bath with shower over. The Bastide is three floors so plenty of space with a large 3,500sqm garden, swimming pool and lots of quiet shady places to chill, paint or read, probably with an animal or two sitting next to you. Free WiFi. It would be great to share some of the cooking and exchange some favourite dishes.

The village of Tourrettes sur Loup is just a 10 minute walk away and has a lot going on - bakeries, cafes, bars, restaurants, live music, shops and art galleries. I am 30 minutes from Nice airport, 30 minutes to the beach, an hour to the first ski resort and about an hour and a half to Isola 2000. Buses run into Vence which is the nearest big town and regularly to the coast. In the winter coaches run from Nice airport to Isloa 2000 every day. The mountains are great for walking, hiking, paragliding, gorge jumping and just sitting and watching the world go by. There is a train station 20 minutes away that can take you along the coastline.
