    Description

    Hello to you!

*** We are looking for someone to be here sometime in July through August or August to September***
*** French or Spanish speakers preferred please, we would love a language exchange***
***Currently most of the work will be harvest & help at the farmers market. You will stay across the street from the farm with Scrivner and his Dad at the farm house & 1 day a week would be spent doing garden work there***
***It is hot here at this time so please know this, we typically work early ~ 6:30 or 7 in the morning & stop around 14 or 15 in the afternoon. ***
*** We are out in the country, we go to Sacramento and Nevada City often and you're welcome to join. It may be possible to borrow a car too if it works out***
***This is a paid position, we pay cash and you do need the correct visa. With that we are a working farm and the work requires focus, speed, the ability to work in hot conditions. It is also super fun! But it's not easy and we want you to know that.***

    ---Below is our general post---

We grow an abundance of seasonal, nutritionally rich vegetables that are certified organic. We implement environmentally conscience practices that respect the soil and honor the seasons. We are also growing flowers to bring beneficial insects, to enjoy and to sell. We are in a farmers market every Sunday, deliver to restaurants, schools, the Coop grocery and businesses in the area, we keep it all local! We love to share ideas, exchange experiences and cook.

The peak season is May to October, this is when there are lots of crops coming in and lots to do. An average day of work begins at 6 or 7 in the morning and for you would end at lunch time. The hours do vary due to weather. The hope is to train you to work side by side and also to give you the independence to work on your own.

As for the crops in summer there are tomatoes, a variety of peppers, onions, greens, herbs, flowers, squash, cucumbers, eggplant etc... Diversifying the crops and implementing companion planting. Fall and winter are full of broccoli, cauliflower, greens, carrots, radish, onions etc.

Accommodation is at the farm house across the street from the farm. It's an older house (for California) build in 1887. You will have a private space and a shared bathroom.

There are four pups that are both snuggly and adorable and are very much apart of the farm family that cruise around the farm.

Near to the farm is Sacramento (which is the capital of California!) in about 30 minutes, east is Tahoe and it takes about 1.5 hours and west is San Francisco in about 1.5 hours.

The farm is located 20 minutes from any town and there is no access with public transit and riding a bike is dangerous on the small road with big trucks. Please keep this in mind -you must love the quiet of nature because we are a bit isolated! Also we have wifi in our house, but not in your accommodation, if you would like to have full-time access to the internet we suggest a simple plan from a phone provider, from everyone who has decided to take this route we've heard it is super affordable.

******Please write when you’d like to come and for how long you’d like to stay. *******

We look forward to hearing from you and wish you the best of luck, Scriv & Rosie

    What else ...

Near to us there are the Sierra Nevada mountains, the Yuba and American rivers, San Francisco is 1.5 hours away... I like to go to the Yuba and stop by Nevada City, make sandwiches and take a dip.
The location is isolated with limited access to town and if you’d like to travel a good way is to rent a car.
