    Description

There is just the two of us, Anita and me, Bas. We both work freelance, Anita as a nurse and me as a technician on events. So no 9 to 5 jobs.
Then there is our two dogs, Cera, (small, older) and Ziggy ( young playfull rottweiler with a lot of energy. And of course our three gentle giants, Sieske and Freya (Shires) and Sunshine (Clydesdale). We offer a very relaxed working environment. Although there is a number of things that need to be done every day, we do not live by the clock. We moved here to get away from the hectic life in the crowded city. There should be plenty of time to appreciate the beauty of nature that surrounds us.

The area of Sweden we live in is considered one the most beautiful parts of the country (even by Swedes). Large forests, lakes after every bend, hills and enormous views. We have a 12 hectare farm on the side of a lake and river. We immigrated here ourselves 9 years ago for that reason. There are several ski resorts nearby, so even in the winter this is a popular area for tourists. You get to work with two of the most special breed of horses. Largest in the world, but there are not many left. They are very nice and calm to work with and have very distinct personalities. And they just love personal attention.

    Help

We are looking for help to tend our horses. No prior knowledge about horses is needed, but experience with horses would be helpful, it would increase the activities and fun you can have with the horses. Our horses (2 Shires, 1 Clydesdale) are extremely friendly, but huge. Help would include cleaning the stables, feeding and watering the horses and some one on one with the horses. This can be simple brushing, but also exercise or riding, depending on experience
We also have 2 dogs that love to go for walks in the surrounding forests.
The 'help around the house' part means we all live in the same house, so we all chip in.

This time of year there not much work on the farm itself. As winter ends this will change. Firewood must be prepared for next year, the fields must be taken care of (mowing, mend fences, clean out), take care of the vegetable garden, cutting the lawn around the house. And there are always repairs and projects to work on.

In the summer we have a guesthouse on the side of the lake. It is a log cabin with a beautiful view over the lake and a small outdoor kitchen. The bathroom is located in the main house though (150m).
In the winter you will be staying in the guest room (large double bed, TV) in our house. You will have a bathroom all to yourself. Since we all live in the same house, we all chip in with cleaning and preparing food. Our house is just of the main road to the nearest town (8km). Far enough away to be peaceful, close enough for all amenities. Bonus is that we installed a hot tub last year. And even in the winter (especially in the winter) it is wonderful to relax under the clear starry night.

    What else ...

Nature is the big attraction here. There are paths that lead to amazing views, impressive waterfalls or just beautiful forests. From our house it is a 500m walk before you are surrounded by only trees.
In the winter skiing is the big thing with several resorts within 10-80 km from our place. Many places also offer snowscootering or dog sleds.
Public transportation is decent around these parts. Good connections, but not very frequent. There is a bus top 100m from our house. A train station in the nearest town (8km) and even a small airport that has flights to Stockholm twice a day on weekdays.
