    Description

Our ministry is an ODV with a registered office in France. It operates in Rwanda, specifically in Burima Village, district Rubavu, sector Nyamyumba, cell Rubona.

The idea of this association has born in 2017 from Steven and Desire: two Rwandan guys that grew up in orphanage due to the 1994 genocide. When the orphanage closed in 2015 they came to Burima village and saw in which situation the children and their families were living. Steven and Desire decided to give them support.

Thanks to the help of numerous volunteers they could rent a house where to organise simple school classes and cook some simple meals. In 2021 was finally founded the Ministry to give a bigger support to the project and secure the rights of the donators.

At our ministry we give shelter to children that have nowhere to go because they are left alone from their parents all day long. The young mothers and the poor families, already broken by poverty and hunger, have no time and will to take care of them. Most of them have to spend the day working in the city or in Congo and they are away from home from the morning to the night. We reach out to the most endangered children, giving them basic education, some meals and emotional support.

We and the children of Burima are looking forward to meet you! ❣️

    - We need help with basic child care for our students. We especially need people who can teach them basic english through songs and dialogs, playing games with them.

    - Help us coordinating the sewing project with the cooperative of single mothers of the village

    - Organize the garden: we need people with experience in gardening to organize the green area behind the school, planting tomatoes, beans, and manioca.

    - Communication: We have an Instagram page and Tiktok. If you like social networks and know how to use them, your creation and imagination to develop our community will be very appreciated.

    - Community needs: you will live in a very poor community where there is a great need for old clothes of all ages, toys for kids, learning materials like books, pens , marseille soap for washing kids. What ever you can bring with you from your own country will be very appreciated.

We appreciate any help that is given to us and the community.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will have the unique opportunity to live as Rwandan local people do. One room can accommodate two volunteers with a double bed and another can welcome one volunteer. Those two rooms are located inside the school Ministry. There is electricity to charge your phones and computers.
The dry toilet is outside. As you can imagine, there is no tap system. The showers are done with a bucket of water, heated if necessary. There are no cleaning middles: bring from home what you need to clean the surfaces in your room.

Meals: You will share dinner and a simple breakfast with the house family. You can cook yourself a lunch or go to eat at a restaurant in Gisenyi. We do not ask for a specific amount of money but you must be able to buy or to let them buy food and share it with the family: count on an expense of 5$ per day to feed yourself and your partner if you are a couple and another 7 people.
