Welcome to Gisenyi, Rubona, Rwanda. My name is Steven Stable and I am the founder of this place with my brother Desire Tuyishime. We lost our families during the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda. We grew up our whole lives in a home where we considered it home. This is where Desire and I met. The jome closed in 2015 due to the government wanting all orphans to be in adopted and feel loved in another home. After being shifted to the village, we found many children in the same situation. It is when the idea sparked of how to help these children in order to have better, healthier lives. 3 years ago now we came up with It is an NGO. We help poor families and we try to reach and link these kids in schools as best as we can, to help them in their everyday life. With these children, we try to give them the opportunities that any other children could have. We try and provide them a good education, health care and the basic needs. We try to visit their homes and their family's in the best of our abilities. We provide them food, clothes, shelter and what ever we can afford for them. We have about 50 children at the moment that we take care of.

Welcome to Rwanda! The country of a thousand hills. With its lush greenery and various farming, Gisenyi is one of the best places to be in Rwanda! We are ready to welcome you with open arms and give you the most of your experience in Rwanda. We can try and teach you our local language, Kinyarwanda. On your free time, you can visit the hot springs that are 5 minutes away, you can visit our local tea, coffee and banana plantation. We have various hikes and trails right beside our home with beautiful beaches. We are just beside lake Kivu where you can do various activities such as fishing, boating etc. There is a lot to offer in this beautiful country. You are most welcome in Gisenyi.
At the moment, we would need your help with whatever skills you can bring to our team. We mostly need help with basic child care for our students. Such as bathing the poor children that are too small to do it themselves, washing their clothes, cooking for them, teaching them basic english through songs and dialogs, playing games with them etc. We are always open to start new projects and get new ideas to give these children the best lives possible
Current specific needs:
House- we need to fix our water reservoir. Anyone with this skill will be greatly appreciated.
Our guests/volunteers are not really aware of the needs of the community. It is a very poor community where there is a great need for old clothes of all ages and sexs, toys for kids, learning material like books, pens, our place ( library ) is rent , we needs soaps for washing kids, milk for kids, fruits for kids they take during break (recreation ) that's why we request anyone with that kind heart to at least help with any amount of finance affordable. I had feedback to include this to the page as volunteers could bring the above from their countries.
We appreciate any help that is given to us and the community.
Kinyarwanda (Rwanda): Fluent
We provide for our volunteers a fully furnished private room with a mosquito net. We can share dinners together. We cook every night, with the help of our guests if they are willing.
