Description
Nestled in the North Cariboo, far from the highway on a bank above the mighty Fraser, our 800+ acre ranch is home to beautiful wildlife and scenery, including elk, bear, deer, rabbits, coyotes and the occasional wolf.
The closest town is a small town of Hixon, with approximately 250 people, but boasts some delicious food and hospitality and the gorgeous Hixon Falls. One hour away in each direction is Prince George and Quesnel, both wonderful hospitable towns. Our family of 4 (two adult children that are not always living at home) works hard and enjoys the beautiful scenery on our relaxing back porch.
We have several different type of animals, a large herd of beef cattle, some hardworking cattle dogs, and a few sheep.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
My husband is Swiss, and we love to talk about our different cultures. I came from the USA as a child, but we both Love Canada and love to talk about our area, the Cariboo, and the amazing foraging that can be done in the beautiful forest. We love to birdwatch and spot animals from our house and our long driveway. We try to attend community dinners and dances, we drive to town every week about once to grocery shop and do errands, and both have extensive ranching and animal care skills (veterinary skills, fencing, building, equipment repair, foraging, sheep and cattle dog herding, etc)
We think this area of the Cariboo is amazing and has much to offer those who aren't familiar with it, we would love to take them on road trips to different lakes, show them the scenery, and share our knowledge of the history of the area.Projects involving children

Help
We are looking for someone who might homestay and take care of the dogs when we are away, someone who can perhaps help out with the garden we grow for our family and smaller jobs with the upkeep of rural property.
This work is not for our business.
We work outside alot, but also enjoy sitting and enjoying a cold drink and overlooking our property. We love to drive the side by side down to the Fraser and look for agates or check the cows on the dirt bikes down logging roads full of berries and beautiful scenery.
My husband is from Switzerland and likes to discuss culture and farming. I work full time but am home early afternoon and love to train my dogs with the sheep and help out with any projects we are doing.Languages spoken
