  • Description

    Description

We are Alessandra, Andrea, and little Dario, born in late 2024.
We live in the Pinerolo hills, in “borgata Cianalino”, between the city of Turin (50 km away) and the Alps (about 60 km from Sestriere and the French border).
Andrea is a forestry agronomist and works in the woods. When he's home, he tends the garden and chops firewood to keep us warm during the winter. Alessandra is a educator. In her free time, she meets up with friends in the city.
Dario loves climbing and riding his minibike. He goes to nursery school and loves it.
We're all about self-production; we try to buy as little food as possible that isn't produced by us. We like recycling things; we have too many of them these days and we need some ideas!
We have 10 chickens and a few cats roaming around the hamlet. We've renovated the house to gradually welcome more people and introduce Dario to the beauty of differences. We are activists, feminists and nonviolent.
We know the saying "The grass is always greener on the other side" is true, but we get along very well with our neighbors.
We don't have many comforts; we don't have a television, but we often dine on the terrace, enjoying the cool evening air. On July nights, you can even see fireflies.
Around the village, in addition to the vegetable garden and fruit trees, there's a forest, and you can stroll for hours through the greenery and hike to some easy peaks.
The city of Pinerolo is a 10-minute drive away.

The place is ideal for those who love both visiting big cities and living immersed in nature and hiking in the high mountains.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Living with us will allow our guests to experience how a family lives in the northern Italian countryside: from organizing meals (gardening, home-grown produce, shopping at the market, etc.) to sharing practical tasks with neighbors (mowing grass, chopping wood, maintaining fences, etc.), to participating in village festivals with the Association. It's a simple life, in touch with the rhythms of nature and our passions, tied to local traditions, without any particular principles or rules to follow, other than respect for oneself and the world.

Andrea has a background in forestry and can share his knowledge with those who love the environment, plants and animals. Alessandra has a background in social work and will be happy to discuss issues related to health promotion and education.

We'd love for Dario to spend a couple of days away from nursery school and listen to a language other than Italian. We'd therefore welcome a native French (or English) speaker to play with him, suggest walks in the woods or play in the pool (public one in the city), and come up with fun activities for him. It would be great if he or she could help with small household tasks both inside and outside the house (arranging flowers, managing linens, light gardening, etc.).
We can decide together how to organize activities based on everyone's needs,in compliance with Italian au pair rules.

Our guest will have a bedroom, bathroom, and a separate kitchen for their exclusive use, on the ground floor of the house next door. The apartment has a terrace for breakfast or dinner “au dehors”, a large kitchen with an oven (if we want to make pizza!), and Wi-Fi.
Meals provided. We can of course eat together at our home, but our guests will have their own privacy whenever they wish.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Pinerolo has a modest but rich cultural life, with a constant flow of events, festivals, and debates of various kinds organized by the city's numerous groups and associations.
For those who love sports, it's easy to find the right place in Pinerolo or the surrounding area: cycling, horseback riding, volleyball, and mountain running are just some of the sports available at the various sports facilities in the area.
A shuttle service runs twice a day to our house (700 meters) from the center of Pinerolo, so we're available to take guests up and down. Andrea's e-bike ride from the center takes about a quarter of an hour. Walking down takes about an hour.
Pinerolo is about an hour from Turin by car or train (approximately every hour). Turin needs no further description: it's an elegant, grand, and historic capital city offering numerous cultural, gastronomic, musical, sporting, and scenic attractions.
For those who prefer the mountains, the valleys are easily accessible by public transport. You can visit charming villages or organize excursions to the various high-altitude refuges.
If we agree, we can lend you our car.
