    Description

    Salam & Hello,
Welcome to our little world in Langkawi 🌿

We’re Laurine and Syed — two simple people who chose a meaningful life in the Langkawi island. I’m Laurine, originally from South of France, and Syed is from Kuala Lumpur who moved to Langkawi in 2020.

In 2021, we started a small artisanal kombucha adventure, letting it grow slowly and naturally.
If kombucha is new to you, it’s basically magic made from tea and sugar with the help of a friendly living culture called a SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria & Yeast), which turns the sugar into natural carbonation and acidity. The result? A naturally fizzy, refreshing drink — like a healthy soda. We then add local, natural ingredients to create unique tropical flavors.
We currently supply luxury resorts, restaurants, and shops across Langkawi, and we are expanding our presence at local markets. At the moment, we are active on Instagram and plan to launch TikTok mid year 2026. There are many opportunities to be proactive within the business.
And exciting news — we’re working on opening our very own tea house around January/February, which means even more opportunities to learn, create, and be part of the journey.

The volunteering is in Kuah Town and about 30–45 minutes from most parts of the island. You’ll find restaurants, supermarkets, beaches, waterfalls, rivers, live music, and bars around.

We’ll guide you with recommendations for food, places to visit, and island life. Langkawi is easy to love, locals are friendly, English is widely spoken, and we often go to jam sessions or live music nights — Syed is also a musician 🎶

For now, everything is still home-based, and we do almost everything ourselves. Next year, in January/ February we’ll be moving into larger production facilities, hire a staff, we’ll also have a dedicated apartment/house for volunteers.

We are going to rent a new place just for volunteers in mid-January. There is only fans and no WIFI.
We can host one couple or two friends (sharing a queen bed) in a private bedroom, as well as 2–4 volunteers at a time in a mix dorm room.
We’re currently looking for one long-term volunteer (minimum 3–4 weeks) with skills in photography, videography, to help us explains the équipements & also kombucha-making process.
We are also looking for a graphic designer that can help us to make all our design in Canva to photoshop version.
We also warmly welcome anyone who wants to learn how to make artisanal kombucha and is happy to get hands-on with manual, repetitive tasks. The work is simple, easy to learn. A lot is going to be told to you so I hope you are okay with that. We usually play music, chat, and let the time fly by 🎶

We are most interested in welcoming people who already have volunteer experience and understand what it means to step out of their comfort zone —people who are curious, motivated, willing to serve the community, have basics commun sense, and have reel-interest.

At this stage, our business is growing quickly, which means the workload is significant. For this reason, the volunteering program is structured around the days when I am present to train and guide you. Once you understand your tasks, you will be expected to handle them independently while I attend to other work.

We are open-minded, value honest and direct communication, and encourage people to speak openly. We are always open to feedback and committed to improving. If anything comes up at all, please let us know.

Due to high demand, volunteers must apply at least 1-2 months in advance. We sometimes takes last minute volunteers.

You will need to rent and ride a motorbike to get around the island and to join us at the workshop. If you are not able to ride confidently, please do not apply.

If you are vegetarian, please note that options can be limited. Outside of Indian restaurants, vegetarian meals are less common.

We love hosting fellow travelers who are curious, open-minded, and happy to contribute in exchange for fair work and shared community values. If you’re comfortable riding the wave, enjoy community life, and bring a proactive, positive mindset, you might be a perfect fit for this adventure.

We look forward to meeting you!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

From January 1st, we will provide a dedicated apartment for Workawayers with two bedrooms:
    - One private room with a queen bed
    - One shared mix room with 2–4 single beds

Workawayers are responsible for taking care of the space. This includes keeping it clean and tidy, taking out the trash, informing us if anything is needed or needs fixing, and making sure the apartment is beautiful for the next Workawayers.

There is no AC, only fans. There is no Wifi. It's in town you can easily find coffee shops around with wifi.

Most of the time, we rotate Workawayers, which means you may help welcome new arrivals and explain how things work at the apartment. It’s a great opportunity to meet people from all around the world, share experiences, and create a supportive community.

For this reason, we welcome independent and responsible people who can take care of themselves, cook their own meals, and maintain a clean living space.

You will need to rent a motorbike to go around the island.
