Description
Salam and Hello,
Welcome to our house, our home, and our way of life!
We are two young simple people. I’m Laurine, originally from France, and together with my husband Syed, we’ve built a peaceful life in a cozy bungalow nestled deep in the jungle of Langkawi Island. Syed is originally from Kuala Lumpur and moved to Langkawi 5 years ago. Since 2021, we started a small artisanal kombucha business, growing slowly. For now, it's just from home but moving next year to bigger facilities. We don't have any staff yet. We do everything ourselves. We are happy to host fellow traveller's at our jungle home in exchange for fair work, and decent community values.
The land is close to Kuah Town, and about 30-45 mins drive to the other parts of the island, so we are at the centre of the island. We have access to many restaurants, supermarkets, beaches, waterfalls, small islands and bars. (I will share with you all the best spot!) We also go for jam session or live music as Syed is also a talented musicien.
We also have to keep it flexible as the vibe changes every season here. We the hosts are on and off busy with other side projects, some seasons we have to catch up to orders and also we get diff volunteers with diff skills and contribution so we tailor the experience as we go.
Any photography, videography, social media experience is valued.
Otherwise, everybody is welcome to learn how to make the best kombucha with love and care. Hygiène and good timing is key.
So if you're up for riding the wave and you're good finding ways to contribute to the community without needing much supervising, you may be perfect for this!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You’ll experience a rich cultural exchange as you live with a Franco-Malaysian couple, discovering both Malaysian traditions and French influences through daily life, food, conversations, and our way of working.
You’ll also learn all the skills needed to make your own kombucha back home—complete with a free SCOBY for anyone who wants to continue the craft.
We always invite all volunteers to our jamming session, live music and different event in the island. Feel free to join.
By sharing your own culture in return, we create a warm space where everyone learns, grows, and connects in meaningful ways.
Help
We’re looking for volunteers who are excited to be part of a growing kombucha business and who enjoy hands-on, varied work.
As everything is still made from our jungle home, your help will touch many parts of our daily life: If you have the skills, we are open for photography and videography support.
We also keep one day for housework, cleaning, and helping with simple tasks around the house or garden.
What matters most to us are shared values. Please, respect and honor your commitment to be part of this volunteer experience. If you’re reliable, motivated, and genuinely willing to learn, you’ll fit right in. We welcome people from all backgrounds who are open-minded, respectful, and ready to contribute with a positive spirit.
