    Description

Me and my wife, Lucia, moved to France 5 years ago to live a simpler and more sustainable life close to the mountains where we enjoy hiking, snowboarding and cycling. Our house is a Maison Maitre with 3.5 hectares of land and situated about 40 mins north of the Pyrenees. We work remotely in the UK and, in the summer, run a Chambre D'hotes for guests. We have a large bio vegetable garden which we use to feed ourselves and also our guests. we are also currently planning some retreat weekends for 2026. Out of season, we are busy working on our many projects both inside the house, and out in the gardens. And any moment we get, we head off to the mountains for hiking and snowboarding.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a truly pan European family, I am from England and my wife is from Slovakia, whilst our daughter was born in France. We live in a community that consists of locals, and other English speaking residents from UK, Holland, Denmark and more, Also, guests staying with us will experience being in one of the most rural parts of France, a rare opportunity to get away from an increasingly noisy and polluted world, a real opportunity to reconnect with nature.

  • Help

    Help

Work at our place varies greatly from year to year. Examples of projects we are currently undertaking: Utility room build in the barn, patio around the swimming pool, conversion of the pig house into a gite. There is also always work to do in the gardens - pruning trees, cutting grass, fencing and working in the vegetable garden.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Our home is quite remote but we do have markets and shops within 10-20 minute drives. Main towns are Toulouse: 1.5 hours, Pau - 50 mins, Tarbes - 40 mins. We live about 35 mins from the mountains where there are unlimited options for stunning hiking trips. There are also several ski resorts. We also have the use of some bicycles for exploring the local area. The Atlantic Coast (Biarittz) is only a couple of hours away. There is little / no public transport where we are so a car is recommended.
