    Description

A trio of friends Bron, Chris and Bella have lived in a Quinta (small farm) in the beautiful foothills of Serra da Estrella national park for the last decade. Working to create a self sufficient homestead along permaculture principles we are completely off grid and are blessed with a source of fresh drinking water.
Rediscovering ourselves through a deeper connection with our earth and each other , we love to share food and laughter as we navigate this magical and complex existence. We are also connected to the wider community of Quinta's and travellers in the area and regularly exchange space, time, projects and joy with each other.
The land is 3.6 hectares of terraced gardens, forest and open spaces on the banks of the river Alva. We happily share it with dogs, cats, chickens and an amusing goat.

Our most enjoyable helpers have been autonomous, intuitive and creative people who enjoy self discovery, outdoor living and physical activity. This is our first online profile, though we've hosted many people via word of mouth.

Thanks for your time, any more questions drop us a line, we look forward to welcoming you.

The tasks around the land vary from gardening to woodland management , building and maintaining structures to creative painting, sharing time with animals and cooking nourishing food. Some projects are in progress with set design and other areas are a blank canvas open to initiative and creative ideas. The types of activities vary with the seasons, weather and spontaneous opportunity, for example tree pruning on a dry day at the end of the winter, unexpected rains can facilitate cake baking indoors by the fire.

The work is 4-5 hours a day, 5 days per week. On working days we'll prepare you two meals and provide food and facilities for you to prepare breakfast. Cooking facilities also available on rest days. Self sufficient campervan option for a pitch on grapey flats is available for 4-6 hours per day, 2 days per week. Preferable time frame is a minimum of 7 days to facilitate bonding with the land and community.
