Description
After many years our dream project is becoming a reality. We sit in the center of a tiny hamlet, in the Apennines mountains in northern Italy between Bologna and Florence, called Rocca Corneta. Named after the 14th century tower that you see in the view from the house. We also share this view from the dining room, yoga shala and several of the guest rooms.
We, five queer humans from all walks of life, are re inventing this old hotel and restaurant into a place that is not only a sister to our yoga school in Amsterdam, but is also as a community house. Our project follows no spiritual dogma and is open to humans from all walks of life. Every member will add value to the greater good of others and join and support the community as a whole.
The system in which we live has let down many of us on some level. As a society, we seem to lack a sense of community, human connection, and authentic support for personal development. At our home this is the central point of focus for us as a community: to sustain and support ourselves while reconnecting to our symbiosis with each other and nature, which we so deeply crave, consciously or not. We provide space for anyone to join, short or long term, and become a part of something that allows them to have a closer look at themselves and what it means to be a part of something bigger that supports your own personal development at the same time, like a contemporary ashram. Or you can just do yoga and read books by the river.
We are not operating as a business yet, this is our private residence as we do the renovations ourselves to hopefully open to the public in the summer of 2025.
At this time we can only host highly skilled labourers given the nature of where we are at in the project and the big works that we are busy with. We are paying a wage.
You will have a shared double twin room, private room when possible, and you are responsible for your own food budget. If you are interested in getting to know more about who we are, where we are at and if you can join us please let me know.
We ask for a minimum stay of two weeks so that we can determine if the place is a match for both of us. If it is you then have an open invitation to stay as long as you like and if it isn't we will kindly ask you to find another possibility for yourself, but with no pressure to leave immediately. Ideally we want people with a good fit to stay for as long as possible because even though short visits are nice they end up taking more energy than someone who is really settled into the house and part that becomes part of the chosen family.

Here you can experience the local rural life of the region of Bologna and be a part of a developing community house with a sustainable spirit and regular yoga practices together. The hamlet is surprisingly multicultural and there is plenty of nature to enjoy and farms to explore. We also sit close to a national park and there is a river just behind the tower. Not only can you embrace the local culture but you can also have an ideal space to take time for yourself.

Help
What we need help with now is mostly construction and carpentry help. We have to re frame the windows and doors in the studio room and rebuild the bar in the living area. Plus we are renovating the entire house slowly so there is plenty to do. There is also daily life help to be done around the house, kitchen and gardens.

We have many guest rooms, all double occupancy with an ensuite bathroom. Some even have a balcony to enjoy the view. There is also a shared balcony attached to the living room and dining area if your room doesn't have one. The rooms only have cold water but there is one shared shower with hot water if you need it.
We will also pay a minimum wage for the working hours. Italy has no minimum wage so we can agree on that amount when you reach out to us.What else ...
We are easily accessible from both Bologna and Florence. You take the train from either to Porretta Terme. The bus 776 from the station runs once per day, except Sundays, and stops directly in front of our house in Rocca Corneta.
