Description
My name is Raymond and I live with my lovely wife Miranda and our two children Christiaan 12 and Tessa 11 and our 2 loving dogs Max &Joy.
We live in a small village right in the center of Portugal a beautiful place surrounded by nature with amazing Mountain View’s all around. We moved here 3 years ago from the Netherlands to become more self sufficient so we have a beautiful piece of land up against a hill with lots of space for growing vegetables and plenty of water to take care of everything. We also built 2 rental properties on our property that we rent out to tourists for income.
We love meeting new people and making new friends, we still have family back in the Netherlands so try to go back on vacation often and then need someone to take care of our dogs, rabbits 2 and chickens. Max is really big but he is basically a real life scooby doo really friendly and relaxed loves people but is really calm and doesn’t really ask for a lot of attention, Joy is a American bully pocket small and chubby but very excited to meet new people, very friendly but energetic and loves attention. She does calm down once she knows you then she’s much calmer.
We have 2 rabbits that are very easy and 10 chickens that provide eggs every day .
We live in a beautiful place that’s really peaceful with many pathways throughout the woods where you can really connect to nature or just find rest and tranquility.
We have a few towns nearby 15-20km that have plenty of supermarkets and restaurants if you want to go out for dinner or get supplies but you will need a car.Types of help and learning opportunities

We are in the process of building up our own homestead and becoming more self sufficient so if you want to experience that process our place is great, we live in the exact center of Portugal close to Vila de Rei or Serta where they often have festivities planned throughout the year a great way to get to know the local community.

Help
We need someone who can take loving care of our dogs, rabbits and chickens and also take care of our home with respect for our things and property.
Tasks will include feeding the dogs 2x a day, walking them once in the morning between 7-8am then once in the afternoon and for the last time before bed in the garden between 9-10pm. During the day the dogs can stay outside in a closed off area of the garden. Their water fountain has to be filled daily and cleaned at least once a week.
The chickens get some garden vegetables or greens every day, check the water, clean and refill if needed and check the food bin and fill if needed. Collect the eggs, you are welcome to eat them if you like.
The Rabbits get a small snack in the morning usually a carrot or two and check and clean , refill water if needed or at least clean 2x a week. Also clean the cage 2x a week with fresh wood shavings.
Other than taking care of the animals we would like if someone could keep the house clean by vacuum cleaning a bit in the living areas because the dogs bring plenty of sand in on their paws and hair. We also have a vacuum cleaning machine that cleans the living room every day that needs to be cleaned 1x a week and then it does the rest. Taking care of the garbage when needed and that’s about all.
We would like some help getting the garden summer ready, so cutting grass, trimming trees and planting some vegetables.Languages spoken

We can offer a completely private room and there are separate bathrooms for the men and women of the house so no worries there. While we are home we will also provide meals and whatever we are gone there is a fully equipped kitchen that can be used if needed with everything you could need.
As we are looking for someone to care for our home and animals while we are gone, they will have to take care of their own meals while we are not present. Our neighbor is available for help and to check up if anything is needed so always someone close by to keep an eye on things.
The village is very safe and peaceful so a great place to find peace and connect to nature. What else ...
Our home and rentals are none smoking and we don’t want any parties or drug use on our property. We are a open and loving family that love to connect to new people in a respectful and loving way and hope to meet people that are the same.

We were greeted with a lot of smiles and laughter from them and their nice two kids and we immediately felt at home.
The small air bnb flat where we stayed was lovely and really cozy.
Our job was to take care of their dogs, rabbits, chickens (which were absolutely cute and easy to handle)… read more
