Description
Long-Term Stay Opportunity in Rural Ireland
Unique experience for Horse Riders. If the idea of spending time in the beautiful rural west of Ireland, surrounded by horses and country life, excites you, we’d love to have you join our family. For those that can ride horses well, there's an opportunity to fox & hound hunt with the famous Galway Blazers.
We originally started this exchange to meet people from around the world, share cultures, and get some extra help while my siblings are away. I’m in my final year at university, swamped with exams and, honestly, a bit overwhelmed with the number of horses we have! That’s where you come in. We don't own or run a business with regard to the horses, its simply a hobby, we don't offer riding lessons or tours.
We need someone who can lend a hand with a little basic housework and help care for the horses – they’re like pets to us and a huge part of our lives. Whether you’re experienced with horses or eager to learn, there’s a place for you here. The work is fun, laid-back, and a great way to experience true country life.
Also, you’ll help keep the house in order for the occasional royal visit from my sister, Katie, who joins us on weekends. So, if you're responsible, love animals, and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, we’d be delighted to hear from you!
Thanks for considering, and we hope to hear from you soon!
We get a large amount of messages, so apologies if you don’t get a reply from us. We will come back to you asap.

What else ...
We’re based in the charming village of Craughwell, which has everything you need, including a shop, pharmacy, a lovely café, a church, and of course, two pubs! There’s also a train station and bus stop, making it easy to get to Galway city in just 30 minutes. If you’d like to explore the area, we have bikes available – it’s only a 5-minute cycle or a 15-minute walk to the village.
There’s plenty to explore nearby., the beautiful Burren and the famous Cliffs of Moher are just a 45-minute drive away, with buses running regularly. The stunning Connemara mountains are about an hour away, and if you’re feeling adventurous, the ferry to the Aran Islands departs from Galway city.
We’re very flexible about time off – if you’d like to travel on the weekends or take a night away, you’re welcome to do so. Just give us a heads-up! A visit to the local pubs for a few pints any night of the week is also totally acceptable. As long as the horses and house are taken care of, there’s never any issue.
Flexible Schedule & Free Time
The daily tasks don’t take too long, especially with help from one of the family or other workawayers. If you’re thinking of picking up a part-time job locally, that’s something you could easily do alongside helping us.
