Description
Hi, I’m a retired TEFL teacher living in the Strzlecki ranges in West Gippsland. I have approx 25 acres of farming land and several projects on the go including restoring the original timber farmhouse on the property to be used as an art studio and sleep out. My property is surrounded by native wildlife (especially birds) and has beautiful views to the mountains. My sons live in nearby towns and often drop in for a meal with my grandchildren. I enjoy gardening, growing my own veggies and herbs and love to cook. I recently moved to this property and there are lots of things to do that I need help with. All help appreciated and I’m looking forward to meeting travellers and making new friendships.
Our first Wiltshire Horn sheep have arrived on the property and always need help with fencing and weed/pasture management.
Our French Bulldog Miss Reggie is always in need of pats and cuddles with some occasional overnight dog-sitting.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I’m a qualified (retired) English TESOL/TEFL teacher and I’m happy to help with English language. We are situated in the countryside and can offer day trips and sightseeing. I love to cook (and eat) so we could share cooking and recipes over a glass of wine. This is a small hobby farm with a few beef cattle and Wiltshire Horn sheep. It's a great opportunity to live with the locals and help out. We are close (1.5hours by train) to Melbourne and commuting is easy. I can take you to and from the train station and also into town for shopping and cafe's when we are going in.
Help
Lawn mowing and general yard maintenance would be appreciated. If you can sand, paint, chop wood, pull weeds and enjoy spending time outdoors then this might be for you. There’s always gardening to be done. Cleaning out chicken coops and feeding and collecting eggs. Feeding sheep and keeping sheep yards clean and tidy.

I’m a retired TEFL teacher and love to explore languages. I’m trying to learn Italian but I’m not very good.Accommodation
You will have a private bedroom with a double bed and use of the second family bathroom, shared if others are here but to yourself if it’s just me at home. I’m happy to cook every day but equally happy for you to cook (I will buy the groceries). There is a shared TV /lounge room. There is a TV for you to use in the bedroom as well.
What else ...
There are lots of mountain experiences nearby, we are 150 km east of Melbourne by train and 5 kilometres from the train station. I can take you in to town and pick you up from shopping, train etc. I am easygoing and live a quiet life, enjoying our farm and retirement. I am a non smoker (you can smoke outside) and I enjoy a wine socially. It’s great to meet people from all over the world and connect and make friendships.
