    Description

Hi, I’m a retired TEFL teacher living in the Strzlecki ranges in West Gippsland. I have approx 25 acres of farming land and several projects on the go including gardening and raising heritage breed sheep. My property is surrounded by native wildlife (especially birds) and has beautiful views to the mountains. My sons live in nearby towns and often drop in for a meal with my grandchildren. I enjoy gardening, growing my own veggies and herbs and love to cook. There are lots of things that I need help with including animal care, fencing and general lawns and garden maintenance. All help appreciated and I’m looking forward to meeting travellers and making new friendships.
I have Heritage breed Wiltshire Horn and Old English Babydoll sheep, chickens, ducks, alpaca and 2 dogs
Our French Bulldog is Miss Reggie and she is always in need of pats and cuddles with some occasional overnight dog-sitting.
Lambing season for 2026 will commence mid July - mid September so anyone with sheep experience or willing to learn and get their hands dirty is most welcome!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I’m a qualified (retired) English TESOL/TEFL teacher and I’m happy to help with English language. We are situated in the countryside and can offer day trips and sightseeing. I love to cook (and eat) so we could share cooking and recipes over a glass of wine. This is a small hobby farm with Old English and Wiltshire Horn sheep. It's a great opportunity to live with the locals and help out. We are close (1.5hours by train) to Melbourne and commuting is easy. I can take you to and from the train station and also into town for shopping and cafes when we are going in. I have 2 E-bikes that you can use.

Lawn mowing and general yard maintenance would be appreciated. If you can sand, paint, chop wood, pull weeds and enjoy spending time outdoors then this might be for you. There’s always gardening to be done. Cleaning out chicken coops and feeding and collecting eggs. Feeding sheep and keeping sheep yards clean and tidy.

You will have a private bedroom with a double bed and use of the second family bathroom, shared if others are here but to yourself if it’s just me at home. I’m happy to cook every day but equally happy for you to cook (I will buy the groceries). There is a shared TV /lounge room. There is a TV for you to use in the bedroom as well.

There are lots of mountain experiences nearby, we are 150 km east of Melbourne by train and 5 kilometres from the train station. I can take you in to town and pick you up from shopping, train etc. I am easy-going and live a quiet life, enjoying my farm and retirement. I am a non smoker (you can smoke outside) and I enjoy a wine socially. It’s great to meet people from all over the world and connect and make friendships.
