Hi, we are Alan and Louise. We have been Workawayers ourselves in recent years, whilst travelling in Europe and the UK. We loved the work experience, meeting new people, the sharing of cultures. We are now retired (ex teachers), but we are beginning a new adventure here at home in Taranaki. We are making a new garden, developing a bush track and maintaining a large established garden. We live on a farmlet on the edge of Inglewood in Taranaki. We are in walking distance from the township. Inglewood is 10 minutes drive from New Plymouth and 20 minutes drive to the mountain. Alan plays ukulele, guitar and mandolin so there will be an opportunity to jam. His stone sculptures are a major feature of our garden. We have had many friends and travellers stay with us over the years. We would love to meet new ones, along with appreciating their help around our home. Our two grown up sons are forging their own life adventures, so we presently have room in our home for others.

This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
For your time off we will give you ideas of local places to visit, depending on your interests. We will endeavour to make your stay a happy and rewarding one.
We have two bush tracks to work on. One is simply clearing an existing track and creek. Removing prunings. The other task is developing a bush track on our new property. Also general garden and grounds maintenance in a large garden. Waterblasting paved garden edges. Help with the planting of trees and shrubs. We may work together on painting the internal doors of our home along with a bedroom.

We offer a bedroom with a queen bed, your own shower and bathroom facility. The room is within the house, but in its own wing. All meals will be provided, however any special dietary needs must be met by yourselves. We are happy to cook the meals, but always appreciate help in the kitchen. Breakfasts are casual, self help meals. Non smokers only please.
Our Maunga, Mount Taranaki, is a beautiful part of our province. There are several bush tracks to enjoy. We have a beautiful park in the centre of New Plymouth city. You can drive around the mountain easily in a day, stopping at interesting art and craft shops and eating places. We have great beaches to stroll along and a fabulous coastal walkway to walk or hire a bike. And of course there are numerous museums and galleries in easy driving distance. Should you not have a vehicle, we are happy to take you some places or help you find public transport.
