    Description

    We are a couple in our mid 30s, George is Greek and Alexandra was born in Belarus and lived in the UK. We will be working on a new project, run a summer camp and a restaurant in the South of a beautiful Greek iseland Crete. We are based between Agia Sfakia ( 3.5 hours trekking) and Agia Roumelli (1.5 hours walking along the beach) and can be reached by sea. The place called Agios Pavlos in the name of a little ancient church that belongs there. The whole beach belongs to as, together with woods and we are planning to do a plenty of things this year. This place is very special and we are expecting special people coming. Together with our volunteers we would like to make it even better!

    The beauty of Cretan nature around is simply breath-taking with its mountains, woods and the Mediterranean sea. We have a famous for trekking Samarian gorge and springs close by. As I mentioned above, there is a cosy Vizantian chruch straight on the beach, which was built in 10 century and appeared to be a national heritage (you can see it on the pictures in travel guide books of Crete as 1 of sightseenigs). We take care of it with love and so will you.

    The restaurant is already functioning, George is a wonderful chef, who will open his recipies of a traditional greek cuisine to you with a big pleasure. Volonteers will be eating the delicious food that George makes for free or able to cook for themselves.
    We have rooms for our guests upstairs. Volunteers can either stay in 1 of them or will be given a tent. We have also hammocks and sleeping bags, so if you want to sleep under stars...I can garantee you haven't seen so many stars anywhere else in your life!...

    Mainly people come to stay for camping on the beach ( with their own tents or we provide). When we have guests we need to take care of them. When we don’t have guests there are plenty of things to do on the beach and with maintaining the house, restoring furniture, gardening, fishing and so on! We also have goats and planning to build a chickenhouse.
    Some periods we have lots of guests in the restaurant. This gives us plenty of work and long working hours.
    Let me mention, that our place is quite isolated from the busy life of the iseland, we have no shops around and all the foods can be brought there only by boat ( George will be doing it) or on shoulders of travellers.
    All the volonteers, who decide to come and stay with us, are garanteed to work in a nice and warm human atmosphere.
    We want to share with people from all over the world all the magnificent beauty of our land, to come to visit us, to stay with us and to come back to us.
    We want to show you how to work with love for the food, with a heart for the guests, the nature...

    Our place is a place where people meet, new frendships being born and we want everyone feel like home.

    We love our place with its peace, quietness, space and nature and we are excited to share all of this with you!

    Please, when writing to us, write, what you can do...

    We will be welcoming volonteers from the end of May untill the end of September. Minimum stay 1 week.

    Our place is multicultural. We both speak English fluently. Alexandra speaks many languages, including Russian, Polish, Romanian, a bit of Turkish, Italian and French and learning Greek. George is a perfect teacher of Greek))), apart of being an exellent chef, in case if you are willing to learn about traditional greek food.
    We are very well travelled ( more than 20 countries and love interacting with people from all around the world).
    Interacting with volunteers makes it a wonderful, cooperative and FUN time!

    There so much to do to renovate the building...To much for only the two of us. To renovate the roof, the rooms, the furniture...for all the people with carpenter skills!

    We want to build platforms on the beach, so people can come and chill in a shade during hot summer months; we also want to fix a platform for the boat, put swinging chairs , hammocks, etc.

    We are going to clean the well, fix the water pump to have a fresh drinking water from the spring and possibly fix the machine, that cleanes the salty sea water...

    We want everyone to do what they can/like most. We can learn of each other and make use of each other’s experience.

    For the rest of the time we hope you will enjoy the nature around us: going for a walk, swimming in the sea or sunbathing or simply reading a book in a hammock. Notice that citylife is far away!

    The main projects (besides the help in the geusthouse, restaurant and kitchen) this year:
    -Reroofing the restaurant;
    -Reparation of some older furniture;
    -Painting rooms;
    -Fixing a water pump;
    -Ongoing projects like maintaining of the garden;
    -Building of a new chickenhouse;
    -Building beach platforms;
    -Technical work, electrical issues;
    -Eco/Art projects in the woods
    -and many many more...

  • What else ...

    What else ...

    Agios Pavlos is the COMPLETE ADDRESS, howewer!- there are 2 Agios Pavloses in Crete)))
    We are the one between Agia Sophia and Agia Roumeli( the closest airport - Chania). It is a very special place for very special people. We are on the nature. There is a sea from one side and the mountains from another. Families are coming to camp alongside with spiritual people,old day hippies and lonely travellers. Lots of people are doing trekking there in Samarian gorge and Lutro(you can walk to the nearliest willage alonge the sea for 1.5 hours or 3.5 hours on the other side), also you can reach us by boat ( of course, if you come to stay with us, we will pick you up, unless you prefer walking;) ).
    You will have a plenty of time to chill...and a lot of a good music of course ( and not only greek- bring your own!)...we love to organize paries sometimes, it all depends on people around, we are very easy going and we are happy to become friends with our customers.
