I run a small flower design business and very small flower farm that I established on our medium sized working family farm four years ago. Altogether I grow my flowers and foliage in about 1.5 acres, and combine my growing and propagating in green houses, poly tunnels and in the open on our family farm. The rest of our land is farmed by my partner and is a mixed medium size English farm with beef cattle, sheep and arable crops. We work in a low impact way with the land, but are not organic. Though we are mindful to work as sustainably as possible in our small way. I live with my partner and two young children on our family farm on the incredibly beautiful Shropshire Herefordshire border in a large rambling old farm house.
Travellers will experience the ‘rhythm’ of living and working on an English farm in a picturesque part of the country. You will discover a lovely part of the UK. You will benefit from helping side by side with us in the care and developing of my cut flower business gaining experience in the overall approach and help required to set up and run a home grown cut flower business.
I am looking for help with the growing and gardening side of my cut flower business. No day growing flowers is the same, and the type of gardening help is very much dependent on the time of year. For example during late winter and early spring we will be working on cutivating and preparing the flower crops for the new summer. A lot of late winter and early summer work can be muddy when outside clearing, tidying and digging outside, or still a little cold preparing seeds, seedlings, cleaning last years pots, tending and caring for young seedlings and preparing dahlia tubers for re planting. Essentially the help all directly relates to the gardening side of a small cut flower garden business.
We are offering bed and breakfast in a 6 berth touring caravan sited on the farm with views to the Welsh Hills.
My cut flower garden business is set on our working family farm on the north Herefordshire / mid Welsh borders in the UK. Approximately 9 miles from Ludlow and Craven Arms, where there is a train service to larger regional cities - Shrewsbury and Hereford, and also the main rail line south to London and north to the closest international airport in Birmingham.
